Emory Point Development Will Set Aside 25 Acres of Undeveloped Land

    Decatur Metro | July 20, 2011

Amidst some of the boasting in a press release sent out yesterday announcing the commencement of construction at the new mixed use development, Emory Point, (“first new retail project built in the trade area in 20 years”, “the largest private development start inside the Perimeter in more than three years”), is this interesting little snippet…

Under the DeKalb County zoning plan for Emory Point, 25 acres of densely wooded land behind the development, approximately half of the site, will be protected as undevelopable under Emory’s land classification plan. Prior to the rezoning, those woodlands were not protected.

Hey, it ain’t 185-acre Lullwater Park, but 25 acres ain’t nothing to sneeze at!  Dense urban development, you’ve done it again!

BTW…first confirmed retailer at Emory Point?  Which Wich!

This large mixed use dense development is another (manybe the major) reson to hope the Clifton Corridor rail project is approved.

On Clifton, across from the CDC near the top of that hill that gives a great view of downtown/Midtown.

Is David Byrne going to come along and gripe about those pedestrian bridges?
