Water Main Break on Superior Ave North of Scott Blvd

    Decatur Metro | April 13, 2011

    Leslie writes in…

Just spoke to DeKalb Watershed Management…there’s a water main break on Superior Avenue north of Scott Boulevard. Not sure which streets are affected but we have no water here on Ferndale Drive.

No news on how long it will be until water is restored.

Uh-oh. No water on Williow and suddenly everyone in the family has to go to the bathroom.

Earlier today, I saw a watershed crew digging around the hydrant at Superior and Willow. Coincidence?

Don – there are no accidents.

Yeah, I talked to the crew. Digging was done to determine extent of problem with sewage line beneath water line. Sewage line crushed by natural causes/settling, so both it and water line are being replaced. Sewage line replaced by approx 8pm, water to be replaced ASAP tonight. Need to determine whether we’re headed for boil-water advisory when water restored.

Still no water at 10:15. Guy I talked to said maybe this evening. Why isn[‘t anyone making a bigger deal of this. Other water main breaks had news trucks and city emails. What are we watery chopped liver?
