Decatur Heights & Glendale Coyote Alert
Decatur Metro | June 28, 2010Susan reports in that she found the remains of a cat in the Glen Creek Nature Preserve on Friday night and wanted to remind all residents to be mindful of their animals.
I know this is an ongoing thing, but has there been any other recent evidence of coyotes in the Decatur area?

saw one running across Clairmont near the Good Year last Wed morning – on an early walk with my dog – it was pretty incredible !
Regular coyote sightings in the neighborhood off Sycamore Dr. ( just outside City limits – opposite side from Forkner). Pineview, Bridlewood Circ. Usually early morning.
Over the last year, several cats have gone from that area . At least one made it home with serious injuries vet attributed to feral dog or coyote attack.
meant to say several cats have gone missing from that area.
Neighborhood you speak of called Springdale Heights – on Bridlewood Circle (off Sycamore near Forkner) there was a sighting of a pair of coyotes.
My husband saw one near Oakhurst Community garden one early morning run about a month ago.
My friends in Kirkwood and east ATL report frequent sightings! I wonder if a hungry Coyote in our midst is why I have seen so many “missing Cat” signs in my Decatur neighborhood the past few months?
There are several living in the woods on Orion Drive near North DeKalb Mall – we’ve lost cats in our neighborhood too.
One of many reasons to keep them kitties inside!
Hear, hear, mags– given all the bad things that can happen to cats outdoors (only one of which is ending up as a coyote snack), I can’t imagine letting our kittycats out. Would devastate me to lose either of them!
There is a coyote den near Pangborn Swim/Tennis (between L’ville Hwy and Lavista). They’ve gotten several cats in the area.
Can’t do anything about local Coyotes until we get rid of all those Roadrunners…
A coyote family lives in the woods next to the Dekalb Farmers Market. When they howl, the dog starts howling too!
There have been recent coyote sightings and missing cat reports in my neighborhood, W and E Parkwood. We think they meander along the railroad track corridor.
On my drive to work (early enough that it’s still dark) I regularly see coyotes in my own neighborhood (off North Decatur Road) and also along my route through Avondale to Decatur.
So, basically, coyotes are indigenous in Decatur now, que no?
