With Truex Going to Watershed, Repast to Close
Decatur Metro | June 18, 2010Soon after we learned that chef Joe Truex would take over the culinary reins at Watershed, we were quickly reassured that he and his wife’s current venture “Repast” would remain open. However, it seems that things have changed.
The faceless Besha Rodell reports on CL’s Omnivore…
I just spoke to Joe Truex, who delivered the sad news that Repast will be closing after tomorrow night’s service. Truex, who has owned Repast with his wife and co-chef Mihoko Obunai since early 2006, was announced as Scott Peacock’s replacement at Watershed in May. At that time, the couple announced that Obunai would continue as Repast’s chef and owner. But two months later, they feel that the economy and notoriously slow summer months cannot sustain the restaurant.

“Obunai-Truex plans to take the summer off to spend with their two young children and is considering opening a smaller Repast-style restaurant in Decatur this fall or other food-related ventures, her husband said.”
Really? Anyone heard any more about that?
That’s a shame. Repast was really good.
