Car Stuck on Railroad Tracks in Decatur
Decatur Metro | February 17, 2010Andisheh snapped this pic – whilst levitating I can only assume – of a car “stuck” on the train tracks running through Decatur. He reports that the car has since been moved from the scene.
I’ve contacted Decatur PD to see if they can provide any background on HOW a car could possibly end up sitting on the tracks like that.

I have actually seen this happen once long ago, not here in Decatur. It was night and someone took a right on what they thought was the road- then the tires got stuck on the railroad ties. Yes, there was alcohol involved. Did mess up the car though
Funny…today in front of taco mac I saw a poor mother and her friend who accidentally locked the infant in the back seat. Poor girl was sobbing like crazy and then the PD and Fire Dept came and broke into the car….nicely.
A friend of mine did that at our daycare and the staff said that it happens all the time. It’s upsetting but usually turns out ok. Much better than accidentally leaving one’s child in carseat on top of roof. When I had babies and hadn’t yet shook pregnancy-related memory loss, I would tell myself that I just had to remember one thing–Don’t Leave the Baby on the Roof!!!
If one had to lock a child in a car accidentally, would it be preferable for it to a hot day or a cold day? Considering factors such as the age of the child, amount of oxygen in the car (whether or not windows could be rolled down), and lack of water or food?
Assuming that police and firemen are dispatched asap, the child probably wouldn’t have to wait more than 15 minutes?
Mustn’t take GPS directions so literally….
Guess the stuck car was waiting on a streetcar.
Reminds me of “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murry driving on the tracks towards an approaching train…
“I’m betting he’s going to swerve first.”
Easily the most underrated Bill Murray performance ever!
FYI, Pop-a-Lock used to open cars for free if there was a child locked inside and they tried to respond quickly.
