Re: The Brick Store keg tappings…what’s the best beer on the list?
I enjoyed the Terrapin Big Sloppy Monster tonight. It was quite delicious; you could really taste the whiskey from the barrel it was aged in for I believe 9 months. Good smell of bourbon with good amounts of vanilla and caramel malts. Definitely not a beer for the faint of heart, didn’t quite seem like an amber but was still very delicious.
I’m looking forward on heading down to try more soon.
One Correction to the list: 6/26 Cigar City Jai Alai Cedar Aged IPA (Firkin) is actually going to be the unreleased Humidor Series: Guava IPA.
The first cask went in about 45 minutes (I had the first beer and my friend had the last) but that was a tiny wooden cask holding only about 4.5 gallons.
The beers I’m looking forward to the most are ones I’ve had before (yet in somewhat modified versions) like Ola Dubh; Avery Maharaja & 10 Fidy. I’m excited to try a bunch of rare & unusual beers like Duck Rabbit “Paul’s Day Off” (didn’t think we would see that in GA) and SweetWater Oak Aged Creeper Belgian IPA…
Unfortunately, I’m out of town for this amazing line-up, but if I were you I’d be careful not to miss the beers from amazing breweries that don’t distribute to Georgia (and thus won’t be found anywhere around here anytime soon) – namely, Cigar City and Ballast Point (as well as the stellar Founders brewery, but that’s already happened). Tell us out-of-towners what they’re like!
