Donating Items This Holiday Season
Decatur Metro | December 16, 2008 | 9:29 amLalah writes in with a question…
I’ve got a metric ton of children’s clothing (infant and up), books, toys and equipment to donate to a worthy charity. I’m thinking homeless shelter or women’s shelter. Is there anything in the Decatur area you know about and would specifically recommend?
Please consider donating to one of the refugee organizations near Decatur.
International Rescue Committee helps newly resettled refugees locate homes and work. Here’s their donation info page.

I’ve had several interactions with the group. Years ago, I volunteered for them. More recently, they’ve helped me some of my work as a journalist.
It’s a terrific organization.
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been doing some spring cleaning and was looking for a place to take clothing, books, and other items as well! This sounds like a great organization.
Decatur Cooperative Ministry probably would have an interest in your items.

I own the children’s clothing store Wiggle here in Decatur and we take our end-of-year items over to the Atlanta Women’s and Children’s Day Shelter. I spoke with several Decatur shelters last year and luckily for them their closets were full and they couldn’t take anything else. That might not be the case this year, but at least there are several worthy organizations in our vacinity to donate to.
Our House in Decatur is a wonderful organization.
