Blackhawks Over Decatur
Decatur Metro | November 15, 2008 | 2:17 pmDecatur’s own Andisheh Nouraee writes in with a question I don’t have the answer to…
Our lovely city is under a flight path frequently traveled by low-flying, Blackhawk helicopters.
The helicopters fly either southeast or northwest, which has me guessing they might be flying between Ft. Dobbins in Marietta and Georgia’s coast — possibly Ft. Stewart. Again, that’s just a guess.
Does anyone know where these helicopters are going and why they fly so low?
Increase in activity is due to impending deployment of some local troops.
…And Just for the record, there is no Ft. Dobbins
You are correct- Dobbins is an air base, not a fort.
Back to the second question — is there any reason these Blackhawks seem to travel at a lower altitude than police or traffic helicopters?
I’ve noticed them also… I enjoy watching them fly over, especially the CH-47 Chinook’s I saw the other day.
Just noticed these for the first time today. Four flew over our house around 12:00.
They’re just reminding the liberals who’s in charge before we get too uppity in our post-election fervor.
