2 Year-Old Hit By Cab in Oakhurst

    Decatur Metro | August 22, 2008
    Intersection of Spring and Fayetteville

    Intersection of Spring and Fayetteville

Scott points out this CBS46 story that reports a three two year-old was hit by a taxi at the intersection of Spring Street and Fayetteville Road in Oakhurst today. The blurb states that the child was “hurt”, but there is no word yet on his/her condition.

UPDATE: 11alive reports the child was 2 years-old, not 3, and that injuries were “non-life threatening”. Also the article states the accident happened around 12:30p.

Let’s hope that they are OK. Please write in if you have details.

    Stay Tuned…

UPDATE II:  The two year-old boy, Antonio Jackson Jr., will reportedly make a full recovery.  Picture and video can be found at CBS46. h/t: InDecatur

Two Girls on Vespa Hit By SUV

    Decatur Metro | June 8, 2008

DeKalb Ave. has been a mess lately.

    Scott writes in…

I went by the Thinking Man last night [Saturday, June 7th] around 11 and it was like a war zone. 3 or 4 police cruisers; a good 4 fire vehicles. DeKalb Ave closed off.

According to bystanders, an SUV (a smaller one, Jeep maybe) had hit a Vespa with two girls on it. Someone said one of the girls was hurt very badly. The police were interviewing the SUV driver when I walked up. He looked mighty shaken.

All heresay, beyond the basic facts that the SUV definitely obliterated what looked like a vintage scooter.

    Does anyone have further info?

What’s the condition of the Vespa riders?  What led to this collision?
