FMFats points to this report from Tomorrow’s News Today that 101 Concepts plans to open a 5th Meehan’s Public House in the former Maddy’s space along Scott Boulevard.  A bit of context about 101 Concepts and Meehan’s from TNT…

Over the years, the four partners that make up 101 Concepts have developed a number of concepts, easily the most successful being Meehan’s Public House.  Previous 101 Concepts have included a Food 101 in Morningside, now home to Rosebud, and an Italian eatery, Mangia 101, in Brookhaven.  Another Meehan’s was once in Alpharetta but was too big to do well on days other than March 17th.

Currently there are Meehan’s restaurants in Vinings and Sandy Springs, along with more recent openings downtown and in Atlantic Station.  The  new  location will be Meehan’s only freestanding restaurant.  Other current 101 Concepts include Food 101 and Cibo E Beve, both on Roswell Road across from Fountain Oaks Shopping Center.

It’s a restaurant news sorta day it seems.

I’ve received a number of independent reports over the last few days that Maddy’s BBQ out Scott Boulevard has closed its doors.

It appears that Maddy’s BBQ is now closed. The doors were locked and it was empty today at lunch. …Half Off Depot is offering refunds for anyone still holding a Maddy’s voucher.

DHS Teacher, Chris Billingsley, writes in about a DHS fundraiser at Maddy’s tomorrow night that will help raise money for the Close Up Club’s trip to D.C. for the ’09 inauguration.

The Decatur High School Close Up Club is hosting a “DHS Close Up Night At Maddys” on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 5:00 to 8:00.  Maddys (1479 Scott Blvd, Decatur, GA 30030 ) will donate a portion of the receipts to help 18 DHS students pay (really parents) for a week of citizenship and government study in Washington, D.C. during the 09 inauguration.  Students have completed two service projects in Decatur at the Glenn Creek Nature Preserve and the Decatur Cemetery and plan on doing other service projects to help raise money for the trip.  Come to Maddys to enjoy some great barbeque, good friends, and help a great group of kids.

Sounds like a once in a lifetime week in D.C. for the students…plus you know you were already thinking about Maddy’s anyway.  Why not just give in to the inevitable?
