    Sobban Korean Southern Diner Closing

    Decatur Metro | December 2, 2015 | 2:09 pm

    sobban

Eater is reporting that Sobban, the Korean Southern Diner on Clairmont Road opened by the owners of celebrated Heirloom Market BBQ in late 2013, is closing.

The site says that issues with DeKalb County and the owners plans to open a second Heirloom Market BBQ in Seoul, South Korea, are prompting the close.

But good news for fans of the restaurant that don’t mind a bit of a drive – the Heirloom owners are considering reopening Sobban in another metro Atlanta area closer to Heirloom Market BBQ on the northwest side of the city.  So stick around for that and maybe you can grab a bite while you’re stuck in gridlock trying to go to a Braves game at Suntrust Park!

After 12 Years, Bhojanic Has Closed Its Decatur Location

    Decatur Metro | November 30, 2015 | 9:54 am

    bhojanic

    From the Bhojanic Facebook page…

    Dear Loyal Bhojanic Customers,

After 12 years, it is both with a heavy heart but also with excitement that we are announcing the closing of our Decatur location on November 30, 2015. Unfortunately, our lease at this location has come to an end and we could not come to terms on a lease extension. We are glad to let everyone know that our entire staff has the opportunity to continue working with us at either our Buckhead location or Catering kitchen. At the same time, we are excited to say that we will not be gone from the area long. Please be on the lookout for an announcement regarding our new concept that will be opening in the area the 1st quarter of 2016.

Additionally, Bhojanic Catering is also expanding into a larger facility. Earlier this year we purchased a warehouse and are in the permitting processes for converting it to a commissary kitchen to facilitate our continued growth in catering and foodservice.

In the meantime, please visit our restaurant Bhojanic Buckhead at 3400 Around Lenox Road (next to Crate and Barrel) and for all of your catering and Food Truck needs, please email [email protected] or calling 404-702-8301.

Developer Plans 3-Story Restaurant to Replace Long-Vacant Scott Boulevard Car Dealership

    Decatur Metro | August 24, 2015 | 2:23 pm

    oldsmobikedealership

I don’t know about you all, but every time we drive down Scott Boulevard towards Stone Mountain, we wonder what the future holds for this long-vacant Oldsmobile dealership (MAP).

Well it looks like there’s now a plan to build a three-story restaurant and bar on the site.

The Medlock Area Neighborhood Association posted a notice over the weekend about a community meeting next Monday on the site to discuss a request for a special land-use permit for the site to allow a three-story building on the site.  Here’s a small sketch of the proposed restaurant being designed by Restaurants Consulting Group, who also designed Atlanta area restaurants including Eclipse di Luna, Lotus Lounge and Re’Past.

Mason Tavern Now Open on Clairmont Road; Check Out the Menu

    Decatur Metro | August 12, 2015 | 1:56 pm

    masontavern

The new Concentrics restaurant in the Community BBQ strip mall at 1371 Clairmont Rd, Mason Tavern, is officially open for business as of this past Monday.

You can check out their full food menu HERE.  On their website, they describe the newly renovated space thusly…

A large central bar built from railroad ties anchors the space while distressed chocolate leather booths make for an intimate setting that is accented by charred woods, polished metals and hickory table tops. Industrial garage doors bring in natural light and extend the patio dining experience indoors.

Concentrics Restaurant Group operates a dozen restaurants around Atlanta, including One Midtown Kitchen, Two Urban Licks and Tap.

More Details On Mason Tavern – Concentrics’ New Restaurant – Opening Near Community Q

    Decatur Metro | April 28, 2015 | 2:47 pm

    masons

If you’ve been over to the plaza on Clairmont just north of North Decatur Road that houses Community Q and Bhojanic lately you may have noticed that the old space at the northern end of the building, which used to be Scoreboard,s is sporting some new wood siding.  This is Concentrics Restaurants‘ latest offering in Atlanta – Mason Tavern, as was first reported by Tomorrow’s News Today back in December.

A recent job posting on Craigslist provided us with the most detail we’ve seen to date on the spot….

Mason Tavern, your newest neighborhood home away from home, is redefining classic tavern cuisine in the heart of North Decatur. A collaboration with acclaimed Concentrics Restaurants, a centralized railroad trestle faced and zinc topped bar anchors the space that also boasts distressed chocolate leather covered booths, blackened wood, steal and hickory accents. An al fresco patio backed by industrial garage doors offers a great warm weather option. An intimate community gem where the inventive tavern fare speaks for itself, Mason Tavern will feature lunch and dinner menus, where you’re sure to find an offering that fits your appetite, as well as feature a plethora of late night menu options and weekend brunch.

Also, the Tavern’s Facebook page recently announced Mason’s Executive Chef is Jason Hall, who according to Eater,

…previously served as the opening executive chef at Max’s Wine Dive in Midtown before parting ways in September. He was interim executive chef at The Brasserie & Neighborhood Cafe at Parish, another Concentrics restaurant, between Zeb Stevenson’s departure and Stuart Tracy’s hiring.
