Crib Notes reports that the Meat Puppets will “hold an in-store meet-and-greet and play a few songs” at Decatur CD around 6:30p on June 16th before playing a show at the Earl that night.

Decatur CD isn’t going “Brick Store” and Terra Mater ain’t closing.  See their blog.

Apparently its all part of the store’s annual April Fools joke.  Ha…Ha…ehem…I’m a little embarrassed and a bit annoyed, but I’ll get over it.

P.S.  All of the positive response seems to indicate that perhaps there is a local market for alcohol-induced CD purchasing.  Or at least another local high-end pub.  Perhaps the joke’s on Decatur CD for not seriously considering something similar.

OK…I swear this isn’t an April Fools thing. If it IS, its Decatur CD who’s duped me.

UPDATE: I was duped. Everthing below is a hoax.

The latest Decatur CD newsletter has a very interesting announcement in it. Apparently neighboring Terra Mater salon is closing and Decatur CD is expanding into that space. Plans include expanded LP and DVD sections, along with a high-end pub.

I’m totally serious! In fact, I’m super-serious!

Retail sales of vinyl records were up 15% in 2007 vs. 2006 and our local music stores are benefiting.

Decatur CD and Wuxtry are featured in a new AJC article about how teens are contributing to vinyl’s comeback.

Shawn Mullins latest release, “Honeydew“, was for sale at the Attic this past weekend in LP/CD combo only. Now I have an LP and no player. I must admit that just having it in my possession is giving me the urge to go retro.

If you also want that warm and scratchy feeling (and you aren’t coming down with a cold) checkout your local record store. Perhaps on Record Store Day (April 19th), when Decatur CD is promising big things; including beer and Daniel Day Lewis.

It’s a random tangent sort of morning.
