You may have recently noticed a new sign up for “Lion Tamer Bread” in the T’Kila’s plaza along Clairmont Road just north of Decatur.
The bread is already available at area markets, including Oakhurst Market, Candler Park Market, The Dinner Shoppe and Splash of Olive. Now the business has opened a brick and mortar location at 1248 Clairmont Road.
According to the bakery’s Facebook page, they opened this past Friday with four breads…
1. the traditional white sourdough
2. blonde – same flours as the white, plus wheat germ + dark rye
3. 30% rye – like deli rye but with more rye flavor + caraway seeds
4. whole wheat/oat porridge with molasses
Sounds delish!

How funny – I nearly asked about this bakery (after I saw the sign when we drove by it) in FFaF! Looking forward to trying the bread for sure.
You had me at rye. This better be good.
We had Lion Tamer’s rye yesterday. Brought it home and slapped some corn beef on it.
So so good.
This makes me very happy to hear 🙂
Definitely looking forward to trying to the bread!
I would like to point out, though, that the official name of the shopping center is Emory Walk. Sorry, the copy editor in me has an unreasonable dislike for the new name of that restaurant. In addition, there are many other lovely establishments in that center and I would have for that to catch on as the unofficial designation.
(Yes, this is an alias for anyone noticing. I post less nit-picky observations as TopHat Cat.)
What’s the name of the Publix shopping center across the street and the FedEx just on on the same side/
Emory Commons
The Publix is in Emory Commons and the FedEx store is in North Decatur Center.
Have tried the blonde and it’s very good. There’s nothing like good fresh bread! This is a like a boulangerie without rolls (so far). I wish the Decatur Farmer’s Market would add this vendor.
Oh, YESSS! Finally, a dedicated bakery located somewhere convenient to zip in & out of on the way home from work!!!
Breads are EXCELLENT and the guy who is running it is really nice. Tough location for foot traffic, so hopefully they will get enough business to thrive.
Good beer & bread with one stop – my husband’s gonna be so happy!
Might this be the source of the name and logo?
That alone has me as a customer for life. 😉
bravo
