    Pambili African Artworks To Close

    Decatur Metro | November 17, 2010 | 10:40 am

You can’t really see it in the my terrible camera-phone picture above, but Pambili African Artworks has “Closing Sale” signs in its windows.

The shop had recently moved over a unit into a smaller retail space in the Artisan building.  As was reported here in the past, Pambili is owned by Nelson Mandela’s former Corrections Minister, Sipo Mzimela.

    What’s Going On With “Taste”?

    Decatur Metro | March 31, 2010 | 3:28 pm

UPDATE: Steve writes “Taste will be reopening soon. Not sure the exact date but I will keep metro posted. Thanks for your concerns.”

Over the past few weeks, I’ve received several questions from residents about whether Taste on Church Street had closed permanently or whether it will soon reopen.

Customers have been turned away by a “Closed” sign for a couple weeks now and there’s a rumor going around that the owner’s Facebook page says he has gone to Australia.   I wrote directly to the owner about a week ago, but haven’t received a reply.  So I guess it’s now up to the community’s collective knowledge to sort things out.

    Can anyone clear things up?

    Did the Pharmhouse Restaurant Close?

    Decatur Metro | January 14, 2010 | 9:40 am

A week ago, Beverly sent in a note inquiring to the current status of the Pharmhouse Restaurant along the Sycamore sidewalk on the southern side of Decatur Square.  She recounted…

We’ve tried to get in there a couple of times since Christmas but it’s never open. I hate to see this one close so quickly – we really like it!

At that time, I sent an email along to Chef Wayne, but never received a reply.

This morning, Billy revived my Pharmhouse curiousity with a similar question “…what is up with pharmhouse? Did they close?”

Unable to make person-to-person contact, I humbly turn this question over to the masses.  Anyone know more?

Daily Candy Cancels Atlanta Edition – and 6 Other City Editions

    Decatur Metro | December 4, 2009 | 11:56 am

daily candyAs pointed out by EldredgeATL (via Twitter), Daily Candy announced in an internal memo yesterday that it is canceling its city-specific editions in seven of twelve cities…and Atlanta is among them.

    From Valleywag…

DailyCandy will now stop publishing city-specific editions in all but five of those 12 cities: New York, London, LA, Chicago and San Francisco. Subscribers in the other cities will now receive an “Everywhere” edition, supplemented with local news and events twice a week.

Hmm…I don’t think my wife is going to be very happy about this.  Not to mention all the local businesses that were regularly written up in the popular local shopping e-newsletter!
