Soulwax Drops 2 Hot Singles Before New Album Release: “All Systems Are Lying” Unveiled!

Soulwax revient avec 2 singles avant la sortie de leur nouvel album, “All Systems Are Lying”

The Flemish band has announced their seventh studio album, set to hit the shelves on October 17. In the meantime, two new songs have been released.

It has been a long wait. Seven years since their last album, Essential, Soulwax has emerged with two new tracks ahead of their upcoming seventh album, All Systems Are Lying. They haven’t exactly been out of the loop, having released new sounds under their DEEWEE label, crafted new remixes, and signed artists like Marie Davidson to their label. This time, however, the Flemish group is truly back with original music.

All Systems Are Lying and Run Free serve as a preview of the forthcoming album. A blend of modular synthesizers, live-played drums, tape recorders, and processed vocals creates a robotic and explosive effect. These two tracks work in tandem, with the titular song being somewhat reserved and machine-controlled, while the latter seems to be a human outcry for the desire for freedom.

A Warning Against Technological Abuse

This is a committed album, as it aims to alert the world about the sometimes harmful role of technology in distorting the truth. Algorithms and artificial intelligence are among the massive influence tools that the electronic rock musicians criticize. Described as a “rock album made without an electric guitar,” All Systems Are Lying was composed as if it were a live album. David and Stephen Dewaele explained this choice in a press release: “We wanted to capture the feeling of a band playing electronic instruments – live, loud, and with a certain spontaneity. This record is the result of that experiment.”

Having spent the year 2024 touring, they will have the chance to promote their album before its release on October 17, starting in London at Junction 2 on July 27, followed by a performance in their home country at the Lokerse Feesten in Belgium on August 2.
