Gwyneth and Robert point out a new shop that’s hung signs in the window of the Artisan retail location next to Ted’s along Commerce Drive. Splash of Olive’s website only states what’s also shown on the sign, that they will be a “purveyor of fine olive oils and vinegar”.

Fidelity Bank is opening a second Decatur location at the old Decatur First Bank building along Commerce Drive.

How do I know this?  Well, because FMFats sent us this picture.

Decatur First Bank was acquired by Fidelity Bank back in 2011.

Fidelity’s first location is at 160 Clairemont Ave.  That building’s parking lot is currently being developed into apartments by Paces Properties.

On the agenda tonight at a regular work session of the mayor and commissioners in Avondale Estates, providing a conditional use permit to DeMedici Entertainment to transform the long vacant Towne Cinema space downtown into a music venue.  The application describes the operation as…

…an intimate setting for acoustic shows by National Acts, Semi National and up and coming artists.

There will be a variety of acts from Jazz Pop Rock Country Blues, Stage (Broadway Style Shows), Improv, Theatre Troupes, Events for Children’s Arts (Private and Public), Community based programs for children and adults.

Private Functions such as Video Shoots, TV Shows, Movie Shoots Weddings, Recordings and rehearsals.

Hours of Operation – 11a – 2a

Refreshments; Tapas Style Refreshments. Lite Fare Depending on season.  Example: Skewers, Sliders, Empanadas, Pizza.

What could this be?

Among the items on the agenda for tonight’s Decatur City Commission meeting – approving a liquor license for “consumption on premises of beer and wine” to “The Cask Room” at 900 West College Avenue.  That’s the address of the strip which includes, among other businesses – Avellino’s (pizza), Ale Yeah! (beer), and Revolution Doughnuts (well…donuts).  The application notes the new business will “be located in the former yoga studio space to the rear of the commercial building”.

No traces of the online of what “The Cask Room” will be, but it sure sounds interesting.
