I’m sorry… but I don’t get it. I checked every weather forecast website I know of, and not one predicts the temperature to get below freezing until well after dark TOMORROW night. If this had been the forecast this time last year, school would not be cancelled I am sure. Are we really that gun shy after the last storm?

Frustration surrounding the closing tomorrow is understandable, but we can’t forget that many system employees were stuck in grocery stores and their cars for 18 hours just a two weeks ago after a similar, albeit colder, forecast. This decision will bring them much deserved piece of mind tomorrow.

I disagree. The last forecast was not similar. Snowing midday at 20 degrees is a world of difference from steady temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. Weather reports in both cases told decision makers what they needed to know.

My commute home yesterday was already long and clogged despite no precipitation of any sort, just advance notice of precipitation in 8-12 hours. It’s becoming clear to me that our inability to handle traffic volume increases of any amount is the real disaster. Doesn’t matter what the danger–snow, flooding, power outages, rain, bomb, tornado, nuclear disaster–our roads can’t handle it and we’ll just have to hunker down in place either on the roads or in our buildings.

” Are we really that gun shy after the last storm?”

Yep. When the national–check that, global–media shows school kids stuck on buses, you had to know there was going to be a different reaction the next time.

We got our own segment on The Daily Show. I’d say that covers it.

I’m surprised they didn’t cancel school today because it was overcast :|

      No freezing until midnight tomorrow.

Did you see the SNL skit? I liked when Atlanta snow was referred to as “Yankee Dandruff”.

        Indeed, Sethery!

If you flipped really quickly back and forth between the winter Olympics and last night’s return of The Walking Dead, you could kind of approximate what Snowpocalypse 2.0 will look like.

I was frustrated about this as well, but it looks like every school in the region is closed. Wonder if they’ll even be back at all this week?

Will depend mostly on how widespread power outages are and the number of trees down. I’d say probably not this week.

Well, the kids can rest up for their Winter break next week!

All kids go outside & play in the RAIN today. Enjoy!

But be safe out there! It’s a very dangerous rain.

Just like on Jan. 6th. Which was an enjoy the cold day.

I think it would be fun if people would post pictures of their snow men.

Can I post a picture of a puddle with a carrot nose and button eyes instead?
