Winter Storm Watch Expands to Atlanta Metro

    Decatur Metro | January 27, 2014

Where did this come from?  From the AJC [bolding mine]…

The winter storm watch posted for Tuesday for the southern suburbs southward through middle Georgia has been expanded northward to include almost all of metro Atlanta, with forecasters warning that a “significant” winter storm is likely.

The watch, which goes into effect Tuesday morning and continues into early Wednesday, was initially issued Sunday for Clayton, Coweta, Fayette and Henry counties southward. But early Monday, the National Weather Service added Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Paulding, Douglas, Carroll, Haralson, Barrow, Jackson and Madison counties to the watch area.

The Weather Service said snow accumulations of a half inch to 2 inches are possible in those new counties, while south of there, accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible.

AJC is giving us mixed messages. The statements “significant” winter storm is likely” and “accumulations of a half inch to 2 inches” don’t match the 48 hour weather forecast which has “snow showers” in the evening rush hour tomorrow then only “few snow showers” and “snow flurries”.

First Baptist, Decatur Rec, Science of Fun–get ready for snow camps in case of school closure on Wednesday!

I’m sure that even if there is no snow school will be Ichabod Craned again. See urbandictionary.com if you don’t know what that is. Fits Decatur and a lot of other GA school systems perfectly…

I’m pretty sure that’s the one he was referring to.

Was just notified that my Meals-on-Wheels route has been cancelled for tomorrow. Instead, today’s driver will deliver a frozen meal for Tuesday in anticipation of cold and snow flakes.

Well there seems to be a police officer with flashing lights on in front of 315 for some unknown reason, every time I’ve driven by lately. Just drop the kiddies off there and let them play with rusty nails for the day.

I believe the officers are there to help with traffic , etc. when the deliveries of concrete sections for the new parking deck arrive.

Time to head to the grocery store for the “French Toast Emergency” (i.e. eggs, milk & bread)!

Is there any food left in the grocery store? I went Sunday so I don’t need milk, bread or eggs, but I kind of miss the excitement, so I may go just to look at the empty shelves. What are they out of?

I was at Trader Joe’s last night and I couldn’t tell if it was a flash mob, speed dating, or preparations for Snowocalypse!
