All right. Whose 12-yr-old got the logo gig?

      ….um, really?

It’s so hip, only the hipsters can tell that it’s hip. So if you don’t think it’s hip, well, you must not be hip.

J_T drew that on a napkin at Trackside…

        July 31, 2012 at 2:16 pm

J_T produced that after wiping his nose behind the Trackside dumpster.

I happen to love it. But I love J_T’s nose.

Ha! It does look like something I might come up with after a few “craft beers.” Personally, I was hoping for zombies.

Oh come on. They have the festival every year. Can’t one of them just be kind of silly? Do they all have to have some sort of artistic sophistication. And maybe it WAS done by a youngster. I think that would be pretty awesome. Just sit back, smile and enjoy it.

It’s just sooo weird – and yes, I think that it should every year, have some sort of artistic sophistication. Why have years where the logo sucks and then years where it is doesn’t? I mean what is this guy – some sort of cross between a Viking and Santa Claus? And that font on his shield that carries through to the website headline – well I guess you wouldn’t want a sophisticated font to go alongside this Viking/Santa man!

      Wow.

    9. DEM says:
      July 31, 2012 at 3:19 pm

I for one am sick of Vikings being portrayed as toothless drunks. For shame!

    11. PaulJama says:

If you do the beer festival right, you won’t remember the logo by the end!

    12. Heather says:
      July 31, 2012 at 3:40 pm

What do Vikings have to do with Decatur?

      • Scott says:
        July 31, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Maybe it’s an homage to our new, hard drinkin’ Icelandic friends at CCP Games.

        • Jess says:
          July 31, 2012 at 6:04 pm

          We have Icelandic friends? Cool!

      • nelliebelle1197 says:

What have any of the logos had to do with Decatur? Vikings like beer. The Beer Festival likes beer. Duh.

        • brianc says:
          August 1, 2012 at 9:47 am

A Decatur-centric logo would have had the Viking helming a fleet of longstrollers.

    13. Bulldog says:
      July 31, 2012 at 3:59 pm

Relax. It’s a logo. Have some fun with it.

      • FHR says:

        That will be epic.

    15. Jess says:
      July 31, 2012 at 6:14 pm

Do Vikings have black hair? Who cares! BEER FESTIVAL!

    16. Bo says:

I just hope this means that whole ironic mustache thing is over.

This is for all the haters…I believe I shall use this as my avatar. So there. Nyah.

      • Cubalibre says:
        July 31, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Yes, but…a gap-toothed drunken Viking is an appropriate avatar for a Republican, NOT a beer festival!!!

Oh, for the humour-impaired (& I’m not talkin’ ’bout Token): 😉

      • TOK says:
        July 31, 2012 at 10:09 pm

+1 on the idea and for putting it up there for this thread. But unfortunately the logo doesn’t scale down too well to DM avatar size, alas.

Kinda looks like something you’d see on a high school boy’s notebook.

Trying really hard but without success to remember what the logo looked like last year… or any previous year.
Endlessly fascinated by what people choose to invest in emotionally.

Wasn’t there one with an elephant peeing?

    20. Decaturight says:
      August 1, 2012 at 10:53 am

Wow. Would love to know the story behind this. Previous years’ entries have been creative, trendy and professional. This one has me scratching my head. Can’t see this selling many T-shirts.

I think it makes the Beer Fest look like a small-time operation.

Makes me think of Capitol One…

      “What’s in your wallet?”

I’d love to see all the logos together, but I truthfully LOVE this one and think it will look amazing on a glass and a fitted T (not TOO fitted…alright, kind of baggy round the mid-section wll be just fine with me). It’s totally hilarious and think it will likely be a huge seller o’ T’s for the city.
