Good morning! Can someone recommend a dentist who performs affordable dental implants / crowns / bridges? My current dentist charges $1800 for a single crown!!
McFarland on Lawrenceville hwy inside 285 next to Brusters. Our family has been using him for years and we like him very much. I think his crown price is closer to $900.
Dr. Howard Abrahams, 404-843-1999. Located in Sandy Springs (Roswell Rd just inside 285), well worth the jaunt IMO.
I’m not positive on price, but if you need dental implants, Dr. Muse in the Commerce Plaza building is fantastic. Like I said, I don’t remember his exact pricing, but he is just a wonderful oral surgeon and in my opinion it would be worth a call. Not sure if he does crowns though (I’ve always gotten them from my regular dentist). http://www.gaoralsurgery.com/index.html
I second this recommendation. Both my son and I have had surgery by him and I am very impressed with his skill, patient care, and office procedures. The insurance side of things was very smooth.
Great event at the State Farmer’s Market on Saturday supporting local growers:

I need a good electrician. I used a guy years ago who also did a lot of work for the Friends school and would love to have him back because he was great but luckily I haven’t had many electrical issues in the past ten years and have lost his business card.
As for a dentist–I love Elise Ashpole up behind the Golden Buddha. Not sure what the total cost of the crown was because of insurance but in the end it ran me about $600.
Are you perhaps referring to Pat Murphy?
I can’t help you find the other electrician, but I can recommend Mathew Morgan (oakhurstelectric[at]gmail.com). He’s done a good bit of work for us and he’s very professional, fast and reasonable. We’ve been happy with everything he’s done.
+1 for Matthew Morgan. He has done work on our rental properties and our home and always does a great job!
Mr. Mabee is awesome…216 Weeks Street, Decatur, GA 30030,(404) 378-7006
McCall Enterprises did some fantastic electrical work for me. Mr. McCall is a class act.
Elise Ashpole and her staff are fabulous. They understand and are sensitive to all of my phobic dental issues . Gentle, upbeat, and always very nice. They are great with kids, too. After my son chipped his front tooth 8 years ago (age 10) she skillfully and cosmetically repaired it so that it was strong and undetectable – a fix that lasted until now when he’s ready to have a permanent crown –
1275 McConnell Drive 404-325-5440 – (off Clairemont just south of N. Druid Hills Rd)
+ 1 for Dr. Ashpole.
For electrical work, we call Cathie Herman at 404-286-9504. She comes when she says she will, the work is done right the first time, and her prices are reasonable. Ms. L. and I have hired her several times and will do so again.
Lenny Lasater 404 376 4252
I also love Dr. Ashpole. She is the greatest.
A group of students who have taken classes at Fernbank Science Center are organizing a rally in support of continued funding. It will take place at 10am Monday in front of the Science Center (across from Fernbank Elementary). Their theme is “Fund Fernbank Fully”.
Anyone notice the crosswalk at Adair and Howard is already falling apart (I think one downtown too)? Seems like a waste of tax dollars if they cannot hold up more than a few years. I’d rather pay for clean paint (google “creative crosswalks” and you can see what I mean) which would be cheaper and, apparently, last longer. Or saw cut out the asphalt and put in some actual cobble in there that is ADA. These crosswalks do not seem to be cutting it to me….kinda feel like the city should pay a bit more and do it right, or not at all and save our money.
I noticed that yesterday!
The crosswalk at Clairemont and W. Ponce is coming apart, too. I think the cobbles were meant to aid vision impaired people, but the broken pavement seems to make the crosswalk *more* dangerous.
One would think real brick instead of brick tiles would have been a better option. Real brick lasts a really long time. Those suckers were cracking within the 1st year of installation.
Just this week my 9 year old daughter noted that the Ponce crosswalk at Taqueria is coming apart already. She also thinks people can see the painted cross walks much better than the fake bricks. She thinks paint is probably less expensive. I know she’s only nine, but…..
ps. to City of Decatur Maintenance: There’s also a big hole inside one of the small “planters” that extend into the street. Someone could easily break an ankle if it’s not filled. Thanks.
The mayor has seemed visibly annoyed about these sidewalks at commission mtgs. Recently he asked Hugh Saxon “where they were” with the sidewalks and got a “we’re working on it” reply. Guess there wasn’t anything in stone at that point. I can ask the city manager about it though. Maybe there’s been progress since.
Actually may have been David Junger, not Hugh Saxon.
You can report things like this on the city’s website and they’ll take care of it. Or just call. Everyone over there is very friendly.
I noticed that it is the road which is cracking and moving underneath. Even asphalt would crack at that much movement. The subsidence seems worse where the sewer covers are installed. Let’s worry about the underlying problem of Ponce coming apart, before dealing with the aesthetics of crosswalk veneers.
Anyone know anything real about the two men running for DeKalb CEO against Burrell?
Ditto for many of the DeKalb and State positions that I never understand on the ballot–they are often some kind of court, judge, or tax position. I even went up to a candidate at the Decatur Arts Festival and asked them what their position comprised and still did not understand. I respect the League of Women Voters but their information is too superficial. I need the real scoop on candidates. This is a forum that I always learn on. I know folks have biases, but those who post consistently under a certain blog name have identifiable points of views and biases and I can live with that.
We need a new exterminator–any suggestions? Thanks!
Give Byron Ruffin at Ever-Redi Exterminating a call. 404-787-3071
I posted last week about Northwest Exterminators when someone else asked about attic insulation replacement. I’ll recommend them again for this post, too! They’re locally (Atlanta-area) owned & operated, and they have an affordable “green” line of products that is not only safe for the environment, but also safe for pets & kids, if that’s important to you.
Will you people please get off of our hard-working DeKalb County officials’ backs for just a moment to see that they do, indeed, have a plan to recoup all the lost tax revenue and patch up the budget shortfalls through code enforcement:
http://www.ajc.com/news/dekalb/paint-warnings-have-dekalb-1458445.html
Sounds like some county bureaucrat just invested in a Sherwin Williams franchise.
I wish that this was a joke and not the most likely explanation.
Wait…
Yes! Walmart will carry paint! All you want.
I’d rather be caught picking up hookers than walking into Walmart. I mean, what if someone in my neighborhood saw, and then thought I clipped coupons, or was on a budget? I. would. die. The horror!
“I’d rather be caught picking up hookers than walking into Walmart.” Thanks for that. Best laugh I’ve had all day.
To reword a Jim Gaffigan line, “You shop at Walmart? I didn’t know I was better than you.”
New info on CSD website about “Capital Improvements Community Forums on June 25, 26 and 27″. See below. I wonder if the three locations of Oakhurst, FAVE, and RMS indicate that those are the 3 schools needing capital improvements, which I’m reading as expansions. I guess I could attend and find out!

We look forward to seeing you at these very important meetings.
Can’t speak to everything, but it looks like Oakhurst is having a wing demo’d and rebuilt to contain more classrooms. CSD’s application for the temporary trailers they’ll need during construction next year goes before city commission at their next meeting.
I have a rising Kindergartener at Oakhurst and we got info from the school saying that the wing with Kindergarten classrooms will be under renovation for the second half of the 2012-13 school year. So, the Kindergarten students will spend the first half of the school year in the main school building and the second half of the year in “learning cottages” while the renovations are going on.
A rising kindergartener. Sigh. I miss having one of those. Those are the best days. There is nothing liike a kindergartener in love with school. The “learning cottage” will just add to the excitement (especially if it has its own bathroom!)
You’re more than welcome to come over to our place and babysit my rising Kindergartener ANYTIME you’d like!
Sure! I’ll do a trade with my uppity big kids and I guarantee you I’ll have the better end of the deal!
Kristen, did you get the info from Mrs. Mack? I hate that. My son’s class at College Heights had a new teacher every semester except his preK year. I was not planning on yet more disruption next year
Barring unforeseen interventions, that wing is definitely coming down, then going back up in more voluminous form. The trailer plan is fleshed out to include room for both displacement and enrollment growth.
My guess from having done trailers at 2 schools already is that the teacher/parapro will stay with the class and it will just be a physical move of the class en masse. They could make it into an Expeditionary Learning experience! How to decorate your trailer like a rain forest! Or the mechanics of turning over your learning cottage using only a simple lever and 50-lb children! The learning cottage rental company will love it!
What a beautiful morning! Here’s a (possibly naive) question spurred by all the recent discussion of City vs. County tax issues:
Moved to ATL, CoD, and had an older vehicle. Subsequently moved to uninc. DeKalb, bought a new vehicle. I had just started to notice my registration ad valorem taxes go down to a level that didn’t make me gag outright, when I moved back to CoD. Just got my registration notice and the amount had jumped up by ~ $80.
So the question is this: is the ad valorem car tax higher if you live in the city? If so, what does that money go toward; I thought this was a county tax associated with the county tag registration.
Thanks for the civics lesson!
The ad valorem rate is based upon where the vehicle is registered and Decatur is different from DeKalb County. Your tax district says “92”, which is City of Decatur.
Wanted to give a quick shout-out to two of the newest additions to the Decatur dining scene:
Colbeh is fantastic — incredibly flavorful food and a good selection for both lunch and dinner. Some items are a little pricey, but definitely still possible to eat there on a budget.
Pinewood is also great. They’ve nailed many classic cocktails and have their own range of unique offerings as well. We haven’t eaten dinner there, but the snacks we’ve gotten as we’ve dropped have been delicious and inventive!
I am thrilled to have both restaurants around and will be a frequenter of each!
Hmmm . . . Where did the editing buttons go? I would delete the first of this double post if I had the option.
Odd, they showed up for this reply to my mistaken post. Maybe I broke the blog.
Went to the Pinewood this week for our anniversary and it was delicious. I had two cocktails both were very good. I had the porkchop slider (yummy), the corn and bacon succotash (amazing probably my favorite) and the mac and cheese (also very good). Also had some of the chocolate jar which was very good. We will definitely go back. By only objection is that they don’t open until 5. I am not sure what I am supposed to do if I want a cocktail and plan to kick out of work at 4. I guess I will keep going to Leon’s (which is still delicious).
Had dinner at Pinewood last week with Mrs. Boogaloo, sat at the bar and enjoyed great cocktails and good food, would recommend to anyone who hasn’t been
Does Pinewood serve dinner? Last time I looked at the menu it appeared to be all small plates.
Yes, they do a meat & two type of thing:
http://www.pinewoodtr.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/EveningMenu.pdf
Yes, I was there this week and had the meat and two, grilled shrimp with mac n cheese and fried green tomatoes. Generous portions and the tomatoes were some of the best I’ve ever had, very crispy and not at all greasy, and a delicious remoulade to dip them in.
Ah, yes– those fried green tomatoes are the shiggity. But beware the Pinewood Old-Fashioned, if you can’t hold your alcohol. It’ll take the top of your head off!
the shiggity? You sent me to the urban dictionary on that one. You know, you aren’t THAT much younger than me, but oh, so much hipper! Feliz viernes! (I don’t know how to make the upside down exclamation point.)
LOL! You crack me up, STG! I have too many late-teen/twenty-something nieces & nephews, I guess– sometimes their jargon rubs off on me despite my best efforts to sound like a grown-up…
When are you meeting me at Sugar Moon?
That was a reply to Cuba….
Hah! I’d say let’s go, but I’m trying to wean myself off carbs for a couple of months…doing that seems to work best for me when I need to drop a few pretty quickly, but since Cubans are genetically predisposed to crave starchy foods, I may be caving! (I’ll let you know!)
I had the crunchy buttermilk chicken. It was fantastic.
On our favorite subject, can anyone provide details on Las Brasas, the Peruvian restaurant on E. Howard? Recommended?
Oh my gosh, it’s fantastic. I thought that was well-known. It is a limited menu but offers true Peruvian style chicken and side dishes, I think it’s called “las brasas” style. My family is addicted to it and we have it at least once a month. I’m particularly fond of the pico de gallo and always order extra. I also recommend the sweet potato fries and flan. My husband swears by the pinto beans.
Beans are gooood. And they deliver!
Oh… yes… beans always do “deliver,” don’t they?
Consistently the best chicken I’ve ever eaten in my life. And they do something magical to the potatoes. My favorite takeout in town. And the owners are very nice.
Great rotisserie chicken, definitely worth the extra cost compared to Publix, Kroger, Walmart. The sides are killer, too, and the folks behind the counter are so nice. I was in the place one evening waiting for my order and John Kessler walked in to pick up dinner for his family.
Highly recommended! My Peruvian friend says it’s the closest thing she’s had to “home cooking” since she came to Atlanta nine years ago. The owners are exceptionally nice and the food is consistently good. Muy bueno!
The chicken is out of this world – rotisserie grilled over Royal Oak Charcoal (Roswell, GA). The potatoes with huancaina sauce is amazing (includes nearly a whole romaine salad in the container). Beware the sauce with the spuds contains saltines – not gluten-free friendly. If you like cream soda – grab an Inca Kola – golden sugar goodness.
I like to eat. I like to eat chicken. I LOVE Las Brasas!
What further details do you need? The sides are all good too. Some people don’t like the green sauce – don’t know what it’s called even though I ask every time I order something and then just nod and smile as they say something I don’t understand and certainly can’t repeat – but I always get an extra side of it to dip everything in.
The people are also nice. We got take-out the day we moved into our Decatur house last year. I got there 15 minutes before closing and was told by the kid at the register that they were out of chicken so I left. The older guy in the back came out yelling after me. Seems there were two breasts left but the kid didn’t know what to do since I had ordered a whole chicken. Ended up with two breasts, sides and two drinks for about 10 bucks. And when I mentioned that we were in the middle of moving and painting, the owner made me take a bunch of extra paper plates, napkins and utensils because “you’re not going to wash no dishes!”
So yes, RECOMMENDED!
we love the magical green sauce too- does anyone know what is in it?
Soylent Green is people!
+1
When I asked, she said it was black mint. I don’t know what makes it green.
LOVE Las Brasas! Their pico de gallo tastes just like my mother’s. The chicken is excellent and you must try the papas huancaina. The potatoes are just boiled and sliced, but paired with the sauce? Delicious! My favorite side is the rice and beans. They’re listed separately as two sides, but if you ask, they’ll mix them up for you as one side.
Also, I live on Church juuuuust outside CoD and they do deliver to my place. Which is awesome and such a nice delivery option to have if you’re tired of pizza and bad Chinese. And speaking to their customer service, they once forgot our Inca Kolas, which totally bummed me out because that stuff is divine. They said they’d get us back next time, but I wrote it off because who the heck is going to remember that? Well, they did! These folks definitely have a loyal customer in me.
+1 on the papas huancaina. Thems good eats.
One thing to add–I once asked where they get their chicken and they said it was the organic chicken from YDFM. I can’t promise that is accurate but that is what they told me when I asked about the sourcing of the meat.
We LOVE Las Brasas (ate it last night, in fact). I also enjoy the sauteed veggies!
Delicious. And they deliver!
Now I am starving! No more talk about the deliciousness of Las Brasas until after lunch please.
I adore Las Brasas. The owners are so nice, and the beans are outrageously good. We eat there regularly. Every guest I have in town – we go there – and they all rave about the food. Make sure to ask for “pico” for your beans.
Attention DM: Is this the first topic to get universal approbation on this blog? I think we should fashion them some sort of award.
Decatur Metro “Once in a Lifetime” Award?
Rotisserie Rave Award?
Pico de Gorge Us Award?
I am torn between wanting to promote them and wanting to keep them a secret just among us.
“Pico de Gorge Us” — Parker, you are a stitch!
Anyone know what is going on with the building on N. McDonough St (between Howard & Maple)? It looks like a plywood nightmare with a new front section literally on the edge of the sidewalk and second story being added.
Future climbing wall for the high school kids??
Any recommendations for a good personal trainer? Although I definitely need some motivation and accountability I do not want one of the drill sergeant screaming ones. Thanks!
Friends of ours swear by Mario at the Y. We have yet to motivate to call him:)
+1 for Mario! One of my favorite people at the Y…
Jason Thomas at Strength Lab. He is a CSCS certified trainer. It is one of the most difficult certifications to attain and is one of the most well-respected in the industry. The website is http://www.strength-lab.com.

Dee trains the girls DHHS soccer team…. she is an awesome trainer and an awesome person.

Dee Campanella, too. I met her years ago. Good person. Serious trainer.
Visit ExcellenceInExercise.com – I know a few of the folks there, and Kristian and Dorie are good people.
Was anyone else surprised that Maud Baker florist closed up shop? They had been in Decatur since 1947 and had just moved locations in the last few years. I would have thought that they would have made an announcement of their closing at least.
pretty sure they’ve just moved and not closed…
The Decatur Maud Baker moved to 385 N. Clarendon Ave Decatur, GA 30079 in Scottdale. I just looked at their website–I didn’t realize they had multiple locations. http://www.maudbaker.com/locations/decatur-florist
Not connected to them in any shape or form.
Anyone have any experience with Sherwin Williams? Would you recommend? Waited forever at Home Depot and the samples didn’t look anything like the cards when they got on the wall.
Just painted the bathroom w/Sherwin Williams paint from the store on Columbia near the Wal Mart. The color looks just like the sample chip and they were very nice.
Also big fans of SHW. Used the store on Lawrenceville Hwy by publix to paint our entire house and will use them again when we renovate upstairs and do the outside. They even matched a color from another sample we brought in perfetly. I have heard their low VOC paint is the jam as well.
I use Sherwin Williams paint exclusively. I’ve painted both the interior and exterior of my home with it and it has held up great – even through children who view walls as their personal art canvas. I go to the one of N. Druid Hills by Target (next door to the Firestone tire place) and the sales people are always very nice and helpful, especially if I’m unsure what I need for a project. Never had any problems with the paint not matching the chip or being the color I wanted and I’ve never had to wait very long to get help.
If you’re buying SW paint, go to their web site and download a 30 percent off coupon. Or whatever they have. The site always seems to have a coupon.
Thanks folks! Didn’t realize there were so many branches. Absolutely will be checking them out.
I painted three bedrooms in our house with Sherwin Williams Home Duration that I got at the store in Shamrock Plaza. The folks there are polite and helpful, and when I picked up my paint, the salesman asked if I had the 50% coupon that was valid at the time. I said I didn’t and he scanned one in for me.
We are very happy with the Home Duration paint. It’s low VOC, so it barely smells going on and doesn’t smell at all once it’s dry. I painted each room in one coat (though I had to touch up a lot because I’ve never painted before), so that justified the $50/gallon price. The consistency is so good that after a while, I was painting without a dropcloth (I don’t recommend this, though) and I must say that the job I did almost looks professional. Good stuff.
Decatur Beach Party tonight – please post tips here.
I’m a first-timer taking two toddlers in a double stroller.
Pre-purchased tickets – ✔
Bringing sand shovel and molds – ✔
What else to bring? Maybe beach towels?
Best place to park when coming from Oakhurst (too far to walk)?
Entry gate locations?
Food and drink for sale?
When does concert begin?
Thanks neighbors!
Park for free in the County deck on Trinity between Commerce and McDonough and use either the gate at Clairemont and Ponce or the one by the old Suntrust building. You might be able to find a spot in the Decatur First Bank parking lot. Don’t think you need beach towels. Don’t bring a cooler or a dog. Plenty of food and drink inside the Party or from any of the fine purveyors of victuals in Decatur.
Awesome. Thanks for the tips.
Rod Hembree is a fantastic electrician who has a years of residential as well as commercial experience. Not only a top notch electician but also an all around entertaining and nice guy. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough His number is 404 633 1360 if you’d like to give him a call and request a quote
Burnt Fork brunswick stew gets a big two thumbs up. YUM
A few days ago, I posted a pic of a car parked in the cul-de-sac in Glennlake Park. Since then, as I drop off and pick up my kids there each day, I’ve noticed cars parked there and along the road leading out. This happens even when there are many legal parking spaces available in the lot.
When people park in the road, it’s just annoying, but the cul-de-sac, with its FIVE SIGNS clearly stating that there is no parking there, needs to stay clear for emergency vehicles. It’s not just a matter of making it hard for everyone else to turn around, it’s a safety issue.
I like to think that people who park there when there is legal parking available do so because they’re tired and they’re just not thinking straight. I’m going to keep thinking that so that I don’t go off on someone.
It would be great if the city police could spare one traffic enforcement officer to hang out there. She/he could act as a deterrent for a couple of days, and then after that, she/he could ticket every person who parks/stops illegally. It’d be money for the city and a lesson for the scofflaws.
+1
People who don’t think that the rules apply to them are annoying. Wish we could be like Gomer Pyle & do a “citizen’s arrest!”
If you call the police non-emergency number 404-373-6551 and report it, they’ll send an officer out and he/she will write tickets. I do it all the time and they generally respond within 10 minutes unless something is going on. They don’t patrol for parking violations, but they will write them up if the know about it.
Need a recommendation for an ophthalmologist for adults, not GA Ophthalmology Associates: Leff/Leff-Goldstein. I’m tired of long waits and repeat visits/prolonged eye problems because they did not give the right information the first visit, but like the convenience of Wynn Way, and free parking.
Also convenient is Atlanta Eye Physicians and Surgeons on Scott Boulevard, next to the site of the former Maddy’s, also with free, ample parking. I have used Dr. Laura Bealer there and been pleased.
It’s not convenient (unless you go that way anyway or happen to own a helicopter) but my family and I use Eye Consultants of Atlanta. My family has been seeing one or another dr in that practice since the 1960s (when it was a very small practice at Piedmont). They are located near Cumberland Mall but we all have such confidence in the care that various family members have received (cataract surgeries, a retina repair, glaucoma detection, on and on), that we bite the bullet and travel. There are about 40 drs there now, I think, which means they have all specialties covered. And there is a very good optician right there in the same office, as well as a contact lens place.
I go there too, Dr. Levine.
I’m not sure if opthalmal or just optometrists, but Joe Brilliante with Decatur Eye Care in the Oakhust Village is kind, patient, and seems to have pretty high tech equipement. His wife runs the shop and have helped me out in a pinch when I had an eye infection.
He’s is an optometrist, but he will refer you if it’s something he can’t deal with.
I second the recommendation for Dr Brilliante! He noticed an unusual finding, got me immediately to an ophthalmologist where my pituitary adenoma was diagnosed. I also see Dr Nancy Newman at Emory clinic to follow the tumor, a Neuro-opthamalogist. Dr B and his wife in oakhurst are the best.

Shout out to The Yogurt Tap!!
Camp drop-offs these first few weeks of summer have taken my kids and I to different areas outside of City of Decatur proper. We have strayed to other yogurt establishments as they were “on the way”.
I have to say that The Yogurt Tap’s yogurt is FAR superior to any of these other establishments! It is very obvious they use real ingredients in the yogurt. These other places are using artificial flavoring and coloring and the flavor and consistency is sorely lacking.
Yesterday, my daughter asked if we could go to “the REAL Yogurt Tap”. And we were more than happy to bypass all the fake yogurt for The Yogurt Tap on Church Street!!
The new place on the Square opened today (Friday).
Two of my friends and I went to the new yogurt shop on the Square today, and while it was clean and the staff was friendly, we MUCH prefer the yogurt at the Yogurt Tap. We joked that we felt like going in and apologizing for passing them by. Not again – in the future, we are sticking to the Tap!
I was going through a yogurt phase for a while, and have tried several different places and have to agree: Yogurt Tap is the ONLY one that tastes like it uses real ingredients. The other frozen yogurts pale in comparison. YT also offers a dairy free creamy dessert, which is nice. One of the other places has “sorbet” and a peanut butter topping in the toppings area (not to be used together!), but even those things don’t win out over YT’s delicious strawberry and orange/honey.
Ms GA and I have tried all the yogurt places and the Tap is the best. They have the most fresh-fruit and nut toppings.
wrapping up a beautiful day at the isle of hope.
have been doing nothing so. hard. I almost got a cramp
A big thanks to the city sanitation department for getting all my garbage on Neighborhood Clean Up Day. I wouldn’t be surprised if these city workers pulled a 12-hour shift yesterday for the beach party and then had to get early this morning for another long day. Good Job Guys!
One more thing, while walking the dog this morning, I came across an unusual sight, an open casket sticking out of the ground in the old cemetery! Seems like there is a competition throughout Atlanta this weekend to produce short films within a 48-hour period. The scene in the cemetery is part of a film based on the “Golden Arm”. So if you’re walking through the eastern portion of the old cemetery with your kids and see an open casket sticking out, you could tell the truth or tell them about Soap Sally, who use to haunt Decatur back in the 1950s, looking for disobedient children.
Could anyone recommend a book on the War of 1812? Could even be historical fiction if well written. Don’t want exhaustive troop movement. type narrative.
This is not a great answer but the only answer I could think of. Some of the later volumes of Patrick O’Brien’s Master and Commander series deal with naval actions during the War of 1812. Yes, it is historical fiction but the author was meticulous about his descriptions of naval encounters. Plus, they are swashbuckling fun to read.
Updated my fav. podcast in iTunes a minute ago, and today’s topic coincides with your request. A couple of writers are the guests. You can listen to the show on her site if you don’t have iTunes.

Does anyone know what the HUGE hulking building across from DHS is/is going to be? I have a bet about it with my husband…
I assume this is what you’re asking about: http://www.decaturhousing.org/whatsnew.html
It’s the new subsidized housing Decatur Housing Authority is building.
Thanks for all the great referrals for electricians. So much better coming to this site than checking Yelp or Angie’s list!
Those last posts were to STG & Nelliebelle…not sure why they’re outta sync…
