Google Street View Car Spotted in Decatur!

    Decatur Metro | August 12, 2011

Kevin just sent in this photo from the corner of Church Street and East Howard Ave in Decatur.

We owe a lot to that little Subaru!

Woo hoo! No more dreary mid-december images!

On a related note, the current satellite view of Decatur on Google Maps was taken in 2010, during the Friday of CSD’s spring break week. If anyone was curious.

April 13, 2010, to be precise. Our tree was cut down on the 12th, and our backyard was graded on the 14th. The photo shows the tree missing but the backyard untouched…

I wonder how long it takes until the pictures it takes today are the pictures we view online. I can’t wait for this thread to be revisited and updated with the streetview pic that includes Kevin taking a picture of the picture taker!

Ours is! Just cut it on Wednesday and it’s green and manicured. Hope the Goobaru (get it? Google Subaru? Goobaru? I just made that up.) took a pircture!

Awesome — I’m a complete street-view addict. And sooo many Atlanta and Decatur photos were blurry and dreary for a long time. I was excited when they posted new, sunny & clear pics of my downtown Atlanta streets earlier this year. Good to know the same will happen with Decatur.

I saw the Google Car when it did downtown Atlanta. And I think I might be in this view of Woodruff Park: http://bit.ly/o8BIij. But when you click to move to the left to get a closer view, the sky darkens and we’re all raptured away.

Many times the images will be updated on Google Earth before they show up on Google Maps.

Never even entered my mind to do that. But I think it would be fun to play dead like this girl in the UK:

This would be the greatest summer job ever…driving the google car.

Darn! And I was planning to clean off the front porch this weekend. Guess I was too late.

I actually appreciate the fall/winter images. Makes it easier to see the houses, etc., without so much foliage blocking the view.
