Pure opens with gas, tools, food, but no walking dead at the scene

Reports are coming in from many sources that you can get gas, a chicken salad wrap, and an oil change at the corner of Candler and E. Ponce De Leon yesterday. Parker Cross reports the wrap is terrific, but that it is no longer available for photographs.
There’s no evidence of walking dead, Woody Harrelson, or Carl Black, for that matter, at the site.

A gas station in Decatur that dispenses gas? How novel!
Are you sure there isn’t a gastropub in the back somewhere?
No doubt growlers are on the horizon. That’s fine, as long as they don’t mix up the tubes.
What exactly is the salad wrap afraid of?
Shudder.
It wasn’t afraid. It was consumed in a paroxysm of joyful noises by Ms. Cross.
I hope you don’t get gas from the chicken salad wrap.
Prediction: Carl Black will be the Mayor of Pure on FourSquare by Monday.
Oh, Carl Black.
He’s the mayor of my heart.
I think that’s a compliment…I’ll take it!
Nope, no diesel (nor pay phones!)
Wow, that is one old school gas pump.
Good point, is there an outside credit card option? There’s times I want to go into the store and chat with the folks, buy a wrap, a soda, or a coffee. Other times, I need to fill up and run, especially if there’s kids who should not be left alone in the car.
I agree, not having the option to pay at the pump is a negative these days. However, I might be willing to overlook this if the price is right.
It’s full service, so no cards at the pump. I was just there and bought 5 gallons. Nice “pump jockey” (how’s that for vintage) and the car didn’t explode on the way home.
I liked it.
The term you’re looking for is “vintage.”
We have a mobile credit card scanner at the station and someone will come out and assist you with payment if you don’t want or need to come in….thanks everyone for your interest and future patronage of the station….any and all ideas on other services we can have on site please let us know.
I’m jazzed, but I wish they’d left up the Gas ‘n’ Gulp signs. They had become a part of local lore.
+1
What s/he said…
If they still have them, maybe they could hang them inside somewhere? I know they don’t fit the new color scheme, but I think incorporating them, even in an out-of-the-way spot (bathroom? garage?), would be a nice touch.
One foot on the brake and one on the gas
Well, there’s too much traffic, I can’t pass
So I tried my best illegal move
A big black and white come and crushed my groove again!
Go on and write me up for 125
Post my face, wanted dead or alive
Take my license and all that jive
I can’t drive 55!
Went there this morning and got a tire patched/plugged. Very friendly, quick and inexpensive. They also do other things, like brake jobs, oil changes etc. Nice place and I hope they do well.
Good to know that they’ll plug tires. My experience just having come from there for 5 gallons was just like yours: very friendly and inexpensive, even though the pumping was full service.
Do they have diesel?
“….any and all ideas on other services we can have on site please let us know.”
I hear that biodiesel is a hot commodity these days. And it would sort of fall in line with Decatur’s way of thinking.
But that’s just my greasy opinion.
