This tree is located (near) the intersection of Kings Hwy and Ansley Street. This picture was taken at 6:30am, so traffic to surrounding schools WILL be affected.
The tree fell almost exactly at 12 AM Tuesday morning. Husband heard the crack and knew that it must be one of the several old oak trees that line the adjacent property at the intersection (above). The entire tree fell!

Someone please reply that no one and nothing was hurt so I can make my “did anyone hear it” joke.
Actually, we live many blocks away, and my husband (a light sleeper) says he heard a loud noise that woke him up about that time. I sleep the sleep of the dead, so it would probably take a tree falling directly on top of our house for me to hear anything.
Only damage was power lines and phone lines–thank goodness! Power was only out for a couple of hours…way to go GA Power! They are still cutting up the tree and replacing wires so Ansley is still blocked off.
