Hi y’all — I am soon-to-be an official Decaturite at this point, but could someone please tell me so I can differentiate between the two — I know where the “little” or “baby” Kroger is, on Commerce Drive, but where is the “Big Kroger?”
Welcome to Decatur. It’s on Dekalb Industrial, between Ponce and North Decatur. It’s in a plaza that also includes a dollar store, laundromat, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, and a beauty supply store (among other things).
I’ve lived off of St. Patrick (last street before S. Candler intersects with Memorial) for almost 4 years now. There’s nothing new about the grande-Kroger. I usually head over to the Publix on Glenwood.
Ours was tomato red. Compared to the LTD and Country Squire with faux wood panels in the carport, it seemed very youthful and modern. Better than the Gremlin, definitely.
I had an LTD with a faux burgundy leather (?) top. The heat made the faux leather crack and hang off in curls. I had to drive it all through college. Oh, the mortification! Eventually it became cool in an ironic way.
Aka “Coupon Kroger”–it’s one of the few grocery stores where I don’t get glares as I hand over my 18 manufacturer’s and store coupons. I find the parking lot a little scarey past 10 PM, especially over by the gas pumps. But the prices and selection are worth it.
Fantastic. Does it have red licorice dispenser on the ceiling?
I was about to ask this, but it’s not blue and doesn’t have flames lol
man, that is one sweet ride…
We had a Pacer! Awesome ride for the first 10 miles…
now that would be a great Prom-mobile…
I dated a guy who drove a lime green Pacer once. Maybe that’s why I don’t date guys anymore?
Ha! With those wheels, he’s probably not dating either. Women or men.

On Dekalb Industrial just before N. Decatur Rd.

And there’s a new Grande Kroger (Citi-Center) in the Belvedere Plaza on Memorial Drive close to the Super Walmart for us south side Decaturites.
Is this new? Or do you mean the Grande part is new? Did they re-do it?
I was there a couple of weeks ago, and I don’t think there was anything new to it.

Don’t get it wet.
“I think we will go with a little Bohemian Rhapsody gentleman” – good call
If that doesn’t make you smile, I don’t want your place card next to mine.
You make me smile.
Party On

*sigh* Feelin’ nostalgic after seeing this…
No estés triste, just think about trying to replace all that glass after an accident (not mention digging it out of your neck and head).
Well, dang, Gibbetties– go & spoil my nostalgia with some graphic mental images, whydontcha?
Next up, a Corvair.

I think someone overfeed that trudle
I believe that is the parking lot at ‘ghetto Kroger.’

The Pacer, with all of its glass, was just a little ahead of its time.
This Pacer’s home is close to me in Avondale (Rockbridge Road area).
