    Last Night’s Storm Damage/Road Closures

    Decatur Metro | April 5, 2011

Hooo doggie!  That was one heck of a storm last night!  Lots of branches down and roads blocked and/or closed.

My wife reported that Drexel Ave was taped off by Decatur PD early this morning.  Also Mara wrote in…

Good morning! In case you’re reporting on last night’s apocalypse damage/carnage: as of 7AM today, Scott Circle between Wendan and Brengare was blocked by a downed tree, and, further on into the neighborhood, a power pole was down across Desmond just before Clairmont.

Patch reports that East Howard, Lamont and Winnona Drive were also blocked at one point.  Also, another reader points out that according to the CSD website, College Heights is closed today due to a power outage.

        Still is as of noon…
I assume there is a sizable tree that is down. Anyone know for sure?

W Pharr Power went out at about 11:30 and was still off when leaving for work this morning at 8:00. Between McCoy and McDonough is where we are.

Are the people on Candler ok?

I just walked up the street to check the damage. One of the homeowners was walking to a neighbor’s yard. It seems everyone is okay. The sizable tree’s branches fell almost perfectly around the home. It was damage-free but it coulda been much, much worse. You know it scared the bejesus out of them.

            ‘wasn’t damage free’

We’re neighbors. Seriously, midnight? How long can food last in an unopened freezer?
