A Few More Details on CCP Games Move To Decatur

    Decatur Metro | February 25, 2011

Here’s a bit more information on CCP Games’ pending move to Decatur from a press release I just received from Oakhurst Realty’s Fisher Paty, who along with Bart Lester, helped facilitate the deal.

CCP Games will be occupying three full contiguous floors in the building and the space is currently undergoing an extensive renovation. Accommodating CCP Games required the relocation and cooperation of seven existing tenants in the building, including Pattillo Construction Company, who constructed the building in 1962, and McCurdy & Candler, an original tenant to the building. As part of the agreement, the landlord will make improvements to the lobby of the building as well as the outside courtyard area.

As my 6 year old son has already informed me of his intentions to be a game designer when he’s grown, I couldn’t be more excited about this. Welcome to the neighborhood CCP!

McCurdy and Candler is a class operation. Kudos to them for helping make this possible!

Didn’t most of McCurdy and Candler’s operations move to Buckhead quite a while ago anyway?

The default practice (foreclosure, bankruptcy, etc.) moved, but the general practice remains in Decatur.

I imagine this will also ensure that the recently abandoned “last gas station in Decatur,” also known as “the Zombieland gas station,” will get redeveloped sooner rather than later. That’s far more valuable real estate now.

I’m a CCP Games employee and couldn’t be more delighted that the company’s moving to Decatur. it’s a great company and Decatur is a great fit for us. Be prepared to see lots of Icelandic folk around town (and especially in the bars). Introduce yourself, they’re very friendly and don’t get upset when you mangle the pronunciation of their names.

Just talked to one of your guys today, actually. Will be a great addition to a city already well-known for technically savvy, creative professionals.

        Hey Tas,

Welcoming you and your Vikings to the hood!

My 7 year old has also expressed a desire in the video gaming industry. Maybe there is a child internship that won’t violate those pesky child labor laws.

McCurdy move a large chunk of their folks to Buckhead but they still occupy an entire floor in that building.
