Everyone’s afraid to comment because of the political correctness disease that has destroyed our country
What is there to comment on? A person has been charged with a crime; maybe the person is guilty. I have no idea, so what is my comment supposed to be? Crime is bad?
Bumper-sticker level thinking isn’t doing much for the country. That’s my comment.
` What is there to comment on?
You could have stopped there. Or, as karass suggests, it might have been sufficient to observe that all the politically incorrect commentators with something to say about this post were easily several beers along and thus likely out feuding with neighbors.
` Bumper-sticker level thinking isn’t doing much for the country.
Then again, I think this sentiment is a gem. You’re launching bumperstickersaredestroyingamerica.com, right?
Huh? Can you be more specific instead of “politically correct” yourself? I don’t get it. You think folks aren’t posting because the employee is African-American? Or she’s female? Or she works for the courts? Or she wears glasses?
My guess is that there was only one comment at the time you posted because:
1. It was only 5 hours and 15 minutes since the original posting.
2. It was a Friday night with balmy weather that tempts folks to go out rather than sit at home and post. There weren’t that many posts during that time period anywhere on the blog.
3. The employee isn’t a DeKalb County or Atlanta City School Board member.
4. The topic wasn’t CSD, restaurants, noisy children or dogs, Westchester, the Dollar General, mass transit, a murder, or a car crash photo, which seem to be the hotter topics on this blog.
The country’s been destroyed? That totally sucks.
But on the bright side, at least now I can stop worrying about financial debt destroying the country or global warming killing us all.
So expat2b, when are you moving?
What an asinine statement. It doesn’t even deserve to be dignified with a response.
Yet you chose to anyway.
Not really. A response would’ve addressed the substance (such as it is) of the statement– a comment merely acknowledges it. Understand the difference?
I do. You don’t. Understand?
Please let us know when you’re leaving so we can schedule a going away party
…for the following day.
I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
All I saw was a report of things happening as they should: staff notices irregularities, reports them to supervisor, supervisor investigates and decisive action is taken, including communicating incident to stakeholders.
The horror, the horror.
I remember getting this heartwarming advice from my wise old dad, an FBI agent: Embezzlement is an idiot’s crime.
Especially when you’re trying to do it to the Police Deportment.
Hah!
SAD, JUST SAD. An employee of the city since 2006, you just hate to see someone turn to the dark side …but even in mayberry there was crime …
Otherwise they wouldn’t have needed Andy and Barney! No sheriff, no deputy, no jail, no TV show!
Woke up this mornin’ ’bout ten thir-ty…
Yep they’ll bust her for 10 large but then this…

Uh, politically correct. What? So, thieves can be prescreened by…. Let me know because “white collar crime” may need to be replaced with some other term. A thief is a thief [edited]
So, how did this work – she was (alledgedly) taking cash payments for citations, and giving false receipts and not recording them in the books?
This sucks. She should have been caught before this happened. I hope they make an example of her.
Pre-crime?
While the Decatur Police are very good and well trained, I don’t think clairvoyancy is one of their attributes.
I think tiger means the system should be set up so that it can’t be abused? Maybe? Oh, I don’t know.
I’m with Parker…this is surely a “Minority Report” situation.
By the way, a warning to all DM readers: I’m feeling a little out of sorts today, so my plan is to pepper each of the posts with meaningless non sequiturs that add absolutely nothing to the conversation. You know, like pretty much ALL my comments.
What coincidence! My knee hurts too.
Or maybe that there be better prescreening of employees? IQ tests?
IQ tests with a minimum or a maximum? If the thieves are too smart, then they’re harder to catch!
