Zombie Sighting!
Decatur Metro | September 12, 2010 | 10:37 am
Taking a quick breather amidst running for her life, Altmod alerted us to a gruesome zombie attack at the New Orleans Sno-Ball Cafe last night.
Her trembling fingers tell us that she witnessed “a zombie bite with spurting blood”. The undead tried to cover up the attack by claiming they were filming “Ace the Zombie“, but we all know better than that, don’t we?
To the zombie bunker! (a.k.a the Decatur MARTA station)

Is Decatur becoming the zombie capital of the nation? I think we need a zombie festival.
We were in there last night for a snoball and ran into the black t-shirt convention; wondered what that crew was doing. They have real olive salad for sale there, btw, if you’re looking for a source! Snoballs are great, too!
i’m all for a decatur zombie festival!
Though not a fan of the horror movie genre in general, I’m a big fan of FUN and “dressing up”! Oh please, let the Zombie fest come to (un)life in Decatur! I’m thinking two weeks after the Beer Fest would be perfect timing……..
Ooooo, yeah! In addition to the Book, Beer, and Wine Festivals, Decatur could become known for its annual ZombieFest– each year on the weekend before Halloween (so as not to interfere with the big trick-or-treat day). It could start with a parade of zombies w/ zombie floats (“sponsored” by zombie parodies of local businesses), and culminate in the the biggest block party ever (with Downtown blocked off a la the Beach Party)! I picture zombie movies, zombie-themed snack booths, & zombie costume contests on the Square, along with contests for which Decatur restaurant/bar could come up with the best “Zombie” drink (or variations thereof)…it’d be a lot of fun! There could be different events for the kiddies & the adults…something for everyone. Picture it with me, people!!!
I am so there with you. It would be nice to have a festival a bit edgier than the Beach Festival (a nice complement to it). Just can’t compete with the L5P Parade (they have half the zombies in town already).
Seems appropriate to let this idea burgeon from the ground up. Start with a Zombie pub crawl. No event permit required, no road closure required, no million dollar liability policy to purchase. Promotion could be handled via social networks for no cost if someone is willing to do the creative. Pick a date, talk to the local pubs and coffee shops to see if they want to play, plan a route, publish on facebook. Voila.
Or, and this might be fun, plan a zombie incursion into an existing festival. I, for one, think it would be pretty amusing if a staggering herd of zombies infiltrated the wine festival or the Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival. Zombie takeover.
That was suggested for the Book Festival. I just didn’t have the time to organize i.
Zombie flash mob!
You need to delegate to one of your minions.
We now have a Facebook Decatur Zombies page. Just go to your Facebook account and search for “Decatur Zombies.” Join us, and let your zombie loving friends know about us. We can plan a pub crawl from there!!! See you on Facebook!
Thank you, Mr. Fixit! I’m in!
Oh, thank God you’re alive!
Zombie floats? I don’t think I would drink one of those.
ZOMBIEFEST!!! ZOMBIEFEST!!!! ZOMBIEFEST!!! ZOMBIEFEST!!!
Decatur, a city of schools, homes, churches and the undead.
There was a whole passel.of zombies at Java Monkey watching the last couple of Decatur Book Festival local poets. And Saturday we happened upon a zombie and a film crew when we parked in the Decatur CD lot for the Oryx and Crake appearance.
What- filming with no film permit! Zombies shall also follow the rules in Decatur. We could even issue them an “undead filming permit”.
Good luck with levying any fines or penalties. Your only recourse is a clean shot to the brain.
That would be two clean shots to the brain … double tap!
Oooooh… there’s an idea for a zombie pub crawl. The Decatur Double Tap Zombie Pub Crawl… we could maybe talk some of the pubs into giving us a double tap (two draft beers) when we show up???? Bad idea?
Also, one more shameless plug… join the Decatur Zombies Facebook page so we can start putting together a zombie pub crawl sometime this fall.. Maybe Friday, October 29?
Linkage Mr. FixIt. ‘Tis key!

They even have a zombie prom!
There was an Atlanta Zombie Pub Crawl in Virginia Highlands earlier this year. I believe there was a zombie makeup person on site getting people done up, zombie style. My brother went and took some great photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gogostevie/sets/72157623757482291/
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of bringing an event like this to Decatur!
I for one welcome our new zombie overlords.
