« Too Much of a Good Thing Is a Bad Thing Decatur Capital Bond Projects Financial Options Meeting – Sept. 2nd »

Attention! Attention! Attention!
The Village of Westchester Drive has found something.
The consensus is that it is a DOG!
The wise woman at the vet pondered a short time before determining it is definitely a dog. (Although I’m still holding out for an elephant or kangaroo.) Modern witchcraft was performed, however, the dog does not contain a micro-chip or robotics of any kind. Positive name and ownership identification is nearly impossible to determine, so this village idiot (me) is asking for help.
See the link below for a picture and contact me if this dog is a member of your family.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/slingerdoo/4931902042/
No tags, only a black collar, all black with slight graying muzzle, female, and a very sweet disposition are the dog’s only traits. She may be “directionally challenged”, as determined when asked to “go home” she led me in a circle back to my house. She doesn’t appear to know how to drive, as evidence that she doesn’t have a car and looked clueless when I gave her the keys to mine. Hobbies include: eating and drinking, giving licks to people, lounging around, and wagging her tail.
Rest assured, she is safe, secure, and in a loving place right now, but I’m sure she would much rather be at home.
I think I may know the owner. I sent you an email.
False alarm. Sorry.
Thanks for checking T.J.
I just went home to give her some food and water. This dog is so sweet. Truly someone knows something about her.
Just an update – No leads on the owner of the dog. We’ve committed to care for her up to next weekend. Several vets agree that she is well cared for and must be someones dog. It obviously has had a recent dental cleaning. Another neighbor MIGHT be able to take her for an additional week.
A poster distribution started today, so we’ll see what comes of that.
We brought her into the house last night and she did wonderfully! Even gets along with our dog. A group of kids and adults visited last night and she was as calm as could be, even rolled over to let the kids rub her belly.
(Thanks DM for this great venue and chance to post this type of thing. Much appreciated.)
Perhaps vets in the area could ID her as a patient from dental records or a picture?
or vet could check for microchip? (you prob already did, just checking)
Thanks for both of the ideas. (Vet and micro chip)
The vet across from the high school scanned for a chip and didn’t find one, and the vet on Clairemont didn’t recognize the dog. Tomorrow, Church Street Animal Hospital will have her for the day.
Signs have been posted around Chelsea Heights, Westchester Hills, and Emory.
Next step is to get her to an animal rescue next week so she can find a permanent home.
Here are the facts so far:
Found on August 26th on Westchester Drive
Female, all black with a graying muzzle.
She has been neutered and still has the metal staples from the surgery. Vet’s haven’t used metal staples for about 4 or 5 years.
She has excellent teeth and has been well kept.
Only a black nylon collar, with no tags, was around her neck.
Anyone WANT a dog?
She’s not mine, but she sure is cute. I did put this on Twitter. I hope she gets home.
Not strictly a Decatur issue, but certainly of interest to the larger Atlanta community . . . You may have seen in yesterday’s AJC that the management of the Fox Theatre is attempting to remove Joe Patten, the “Phantom of the Fox”, from the apartment for which he was granted a “lifetime” lease some thirty years ago. (I have a personal interest, having grown up down the street from Joe in College Park and known him for more than 40 years.) As anyone who has been around Atlanta for the past half-century or so knows, back in the ‘70s the magnificent Fox was two days from a date with a wrecking ball when a small group led by Joe and a few others managed to put together a deal that saved the theatre. Through many years of hard work by Joe and others, the theatre (included its massive pipe organ) was restored to its former glory, and today it is financially secure. In recognition of his pivotal role in saving the Fox and of his encyclopedic knowledge of the place, the Atlanta Landmarks board gave Joe an apartment over the theatre where he was to live for the rest of his days.
Well, Joe is now in his eighties and while he’s generally still healthy he has had some medical problems recently. It appears the theatre’s current management (which maybe wasn’t around back in the bad old days), has its eye on that prime space where Joe lives and is seizing on his recent problems as a basis to kick him out. You can read the correspondence between the parties at http://www.ajc.com/multimedia/archive/00655/Patten-Fox_Theatre__655836a.pdf
I think the way the theatre’s management is treating this man is shameful. I have it on good authority from those closest to him that Joe is still quite capable of living independently, and he has the resources to obtain assistance if necessary. Joe has been devoted to this landmark since the early sixties, when he began spending all his spare time restoring the organ assisted only by a few neighborhood kids. Quite literally, if it wasn’t for Joe, the Fox Theatre would be nothing more than a memory. If you feel as I do, perhaps it would be helpful to reach out to the Fox management and let them know. As it happens, contact information is included in the link provided above. I’m just sayin‘ . . .
GRRRRRRR…. these folks need a good ol’ head thumpin’!!! What the heck are they thinking??? I’ll be glad to write them!
Hope the Twitter & Facebook armies blow this story up BIG TIME!!! Joe Patten IS the Fox Theatre!!!
I just spoke to someone at the Fox theatre about Mr. Patten’s situation, and they are plenty smarmy about how much they “care about Joe,” and their intention seems to be to CANCEL his present lease and NEGOTIATE a new lease. Ha! This means THEY will dictate the terms, and you can imagine what those terms will be. They say the media is sensationalizing Joe’s story and that the public “doesn’t know all the facts,” etc. etc. In short, it is the their obvious intention to kick Mr. Patten to the curb ASAP. Ghastly greedy short-sighted people. When I suggested that one alternative would be for Fox theatre to PROVIDE Mr. Patten with the extra care they think he needs at this time of his life while remaining in his apartment, this guy hemmed and hawed and said again that no one “outside the theatre” knows the truth about Mr. Patten’s needs.
Wow, you actually called. That’s hugely respectable. Cheerio, Chira.
If you’re going to contact Fox theatre, you’d better do it today, because the board hearing is scheduled for MONDAY August 30, and Mr. Patten could be effectively out on the curb at the conclusion of that board meeting. The guy I talked to on the phone said there is no “eviction” planned, but “a new contract or lease arrangement.” Hmmph! Better call today if you want any kind of reaction, because this will be done and dusted by August 31 at the latest. Look at the contact information on the link given in the original comment to get a name and phone # to call.
Bless your heart, Chira. Thanks for calling. For those so inclined, the Fox is on Facebook and a number of people have already posted expressing their concern, outrage, etc. There’s no question that a strong show of public concern will have an impact on the trustees when they consider this on Monday.
I’m reluctant to publish a list of the trustees (and Atlanta Landmarks has evidently chosen not to do so) because I hate to punish people for giving their time to civic causes, but if anyone happens to have an in with somone on the board, this would be the time to play that card.
A lot of the old Save the Fox crowd is still out there – I know a bunch of these guys- and a lot of them are lawyers. I bet Joe has some great legal advcie
Trying to start a new thread…
Anyone know the status of the Decatur Diner? We have been looking forward to having a meat and 3 restaurant in Decatur for years and are anxiously wating for updates…looks beautiful inside!
Andisheh wrote to me yesterday and said that “a woman” standing outside the Diner said it would be open in 3 weeks.
Rightttttttttt….
You can’t trust Andisheh. At least that’s what a tea partier told me.
So, judging from the use of quotes, are we to discern that AH wasn’t really sure of the gender of the person he spoke with outside the diner? Or does that have more to do with the person’s authority to speak on behalf of Diner Time, Inc.?
According to the manager.. Melisa ..the 3 week date is about right.. they were working on a second diner in Sandy Springs, http://www.sandyspringsdiner.com/ which they evidently opened a few weeks ago, at the same time as the Decatur Diner and things, understandably so, got a bit hectic for them. Around the same time, word is on the street is that “Taste” will be reopening under new management and, of course Decatur Homegrown is about to sprout. All in the same block.
I for one can’t wait for the diner to open!
Soooooooo. The big news is that Oakhurst is about to have its very own Dollar General! It’s not quite a Trader Joe’s but it’s close.
Interesting indeed! We’ve pretty much been Family Dollar territory until now…
Family Dollar has cookies that are made in the same place as the Girl Scout Cookies and taste the same, look almost the same. Hubbs brought me home a box of knock-off Samoas last week. Yum.
Oh goodness! I did not need to know that!
….. um…..any Thin Mints knock-offs?
Have not tested the thin mints yet – but will go soon. I was in my first trimester during cookie season this year, and thin mints made me sick….but I located them in the pantry this weekend and consumed a sleeve of them in one afternoon….so need more soon. Stay tuned.
Knock-off samoas will have there on opening day. Tis true.
seriously? Not even close to Trader Joe’s.
wat
I’ve been hearing this rumor for several months, if not longer– are there any more details available?
Pretty wife was power-walking with a galfriend and a Dollar General corporate dude stopped and asked for directions. The address he was looking for was the Big H.
how sweet you called your wife pretty…(simple things make me happy)
After 11 years of marriage, I’m still astonished, downright flabbergasted, I landed such a beautiful babe. Seriously, you should see her next to me. Score one for the dorks. And, to top it off, she’s really smart.
Awwww, so sweet. I hope your wife sees this!
Really?!? Hmmm, not close to TJ’s at all, but it’s better than vacancy. Is it going into the old NAVO space?
I’m unsure about the space. And my reference to Dollar General and Trader Joe’s being similar was only slightly tongue in cheek. Both sell processed, packaged foods, right? I can’t get a salad at Dollar General. But both stores sell rice krispies, or some variation there of, right?
Dollar General wouldn’t have been my first choice either. But after looking at their website I’m curious if it will be a regular DG or a ‘Dollar General Market.’ The market variety is more like a Kroger or Publix. And boy, wouldn’t that be a wonderfully convenient thing to have within walking distance. Some even sell beer and wine. (Which by extension means they may carry two-buck chuck!) So, I’m choosing to look on the bright side.
OK, now you’ve got my hopes up that it will be one of these DG Market thingies. That would definitely be better than a regular DG full-of-cheap-crap-you don’t-really-need store.
Well now you know what big retail thinks of Oakhurst. Too bad.
You guys should really check out the Aldi on Memorial. They own Trader Joe’s and their house wine is eerily similar to Trader Joes…
NOT good, IMO. Welcome to MUCH new auto traffic in the neighborhood. OF all the wonderful businesses that have wanted to locate there, the owner cuts a deal with a low end retailer…great. No one is more tired of that BIG H eyesore than I am, but DOLLAR GENERAL is um, not what I feel any Oakhurstian had in mind.
As a former retailer, I can tell you Dollar General started out to locate stores where no other competitor will go: little forgotten towns ( think all the old towns that thrived from folks that went to Florida before the interstates). Very low end products/cut-outs/discontinued stuff. I don’t think it aligns very well with the vibe of the village of Oakhurst. ON a brighter note, it may put the STOP and SHOOT out of business.
Ha! We call it the Crack & Snack.
We prefer Hop or Get Shot.
Aww Jack… I gotta disagree that they sell inferior merchandise. Budget priced merchandise = BIG $$$ these days, so they have a zillion manufacturers to choose from in every category. Not that you won’t find remainders- just that it’s stuff like books/dvds, etc these days. Guess I’m kinda fond of variety type stores… flashbacks of Woolworth’s & the old Athens Five & Dime. :0)
I shopped the brand new Dollar General in Rabun Gap/ North Ga Mtns last month. Must’ve been a “Market” like writerchad mentioned. Boy howdy! Its grocery aisles rock! Several rows of basic food staples on shelves+ 5-6 wall coolers with Dairy/Frozen. Darned handy in a pinch! Family Dollar: Game ON!
(While Dollar General & Family Dollar started out in small town markets, they’re both in the bigger markets now. Pretty astute retailers with very bright futures in today’s economy. Oakhurst folks may find they like it. Although DG probably won’t modify their storefront, maybe they’d be willing to funkify the landscaping? Worth asking!)
It will only kill the Stop and Rob if it sells Black Tail magazine, lottery tickets, and single cans of beer.
Otherwise I don’t see myself taking my business over there.
Dollar General started out to locate stores where no other competitor will go: little forgotten towns ( think all the old towns that thrived from folks that went to Florida before the interstates).
——-
Actually, think about all the small towns where local, independent merchants were driven extinct when WalMart located in larger towns nearby. It left people without the means to travel to those larger towns with no options at all, until the likes of Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Fred’s came along.
“NOT good, IMO. Welcome to MUCH new auto traffic in the neighborhood. ”
Sorry, can’t resist this one. I don’t know if you’ve heard ( just kidding!) but our school system is building a 4/5 academy which is to serve 400-600 children. Unless we put our kids on the bus at a ridiculous hour, many, many many of us will be traveling thru the Oakhurst retail center every morning and possibly afternoon. ( Probably more of us in the morning.) I recommend that Dollar General open it’s doors at 8 am. Many people appreciate a good deal, and, well, were going to be there in our cars anyway, so why not fill it with value priced consumer goods.
All this to say, traffic is coming to Oakhurst, regardless of Dollar General.
yes, I know it was supposed to be we’re. Just submitted too soon.
I actually think that the Hop n Shop is a really good convenience store.
Yeah, it’s close. Like when I tell people I make close to a six figure income… five to be exact.
The above was referring to the WriterChad’ s comment about Dollar General being close to Trader Joe’s.
Anyone know of any good bookclubs in the Decatur/Avondale/Emory area? I’m looking for something fun and interesting, but with a group that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Any suggestions?
Try meetup.com – I went to a few of the “brookhaven women’s book club” (I think that was what it was called ) – and enjoyed it. There are a few others in the area on there as I recall.
The Blue Elephant Book Shop has a book group that meets the second Wednesday night of every month:
http://www.blueelephantbookshop.com/book-group
On September 8 we’ll be discussing “Nowhere Else on Earth” by Josephine Humphreys. October’s book is “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien. Anyone who’s read the book (or doesn’t mind being spoiled for it) is welcome to show up and have snacks!
[/SHAMELESS PLUG]
Thanks for the head’s up.
I was at Oakhurst Park yesterday afternoon when some middle-school aged kids started throwing beer bottles into the parking lot to shatter them. By the time I managed to corral my toddler and confront them, half the kids had left, and the remaining kids blamed the other kids (but were otherwise very nonchalant about the whole thing). It made me pretty sad to see them mistreating such a great public resource in broad daylight with many people in earshot.
It is so great you called them on it. That is what kids lack these days. You know, it takes a village…
Yeah, you right. I know a LOT of the kids in this town because I’ve worked in the schools in the past, and I don’t hesitate to call somebody down if necessary. It mortifies my kids, too.
But I don’t care. I think the value of our community is that somebody is going to stand up for community standards. And fussing at kids breaking beer bottles in a public park is not proper behavior.
Lot of people tell me to mind my own business. It really frosts me. I think the community IS my business.
and another “good job” from me on calling them out. Might not have done much for the specific incident, but it contributes to sending the right kind of message
(oh – and sorry about leaving those beer bottles there in the park…I’ll try not to forget them when I visit tomorrow morning.)
I’m not sure I was very effective. I never really know what to say until I think of the absolutely perfect thing in the middle of the night, then it’s too late.
I’ve also just realized that all my recent FFAF comments have been about griping about incidents in city parks. Sorry about that! It just seems to be where I’ve been spending time lately…
Did you call the police to respond? Gathering them all up and confronting parents would have convienently stopped this……
It never occurred to me to do that! And actually, it all happened pretty fast. Like I said, half the kids were gone before I could cross the park to talk to them.
I have actually marched kids home before and had a word with momma. It’s amazing how quickly that threat can cause good behavior.
Good for you! When I was growing up in a small town, it took some kind of serious nerve to misbehave in public–much less do vandalism in broad daylight–because we knew whatever adult happened to be around would chastise us and most likely tell our parents. The only way we can teach kids to respect property–not to mention respect themselves and each other–if is we expect it of them and demand it of them.
Yeah, and Decatur IS a small town, really. I DO know the mama’s (and grandmama’s) of many kids, and if they’re walking around causing trouble, chances are very good their mama is gonna find out.
I tweeted this as well, but does anyone know what is filming near Sycamore St/Pl? Lots of very large movie trucks, equipment, power cords everywhere. Should I start hanging out looking for stars?
The crew is parked at First Baptist. The signs refer to “A&K”.
The A&K crew was also filiming at the high school on N. Druid Hills/Briarcliff (across from the Target) last week.
What an idiot I am–the sign at First Baptist says “A&K Base Camp”. I figured we had some mountaineers and sherpas hanging out in town.
Maybe it’s “Footloose?” I heard that was being filmed in Atlanta. Sadly, Kevin Bacon does not star.
It is being produced by the Cartoon Network. They sent fliers around the local neighborhood to warn people that they would be blocking traffic and shining lights until midnight. They will be over on Howard and down at Candler, Trinity and Church next week.
I think its working title is “Never Fail” and the production company is Alive and Kicking Inc.
It is being filmed by the Cartoon Network. The title they had when they first came for a permit was “Lords of Bad Axe”. It may have changed titles as they sometimes do.
?? I can see that as a tittle worthy of changing!
I agree, “Bad Axe Lords” would be a lot smoother.
It’s a tittilating title.
Hmm. Is that the new nude Jennifer Anniston film?
Man, I thought we were a BLUE CITY! I think we are closing in OTP territory…
In what respect?
I have now become to feel like a democat yuppie! Let’s get our heads out of the sand!
The End of the Line: You might not have noticed the signs MARTA has posted at all the Route #2 Bus stops on West Ponce de Leon from Decatur going west to North Highland. As a regular rider on that bus I have. “Notice, this bus stop will no longer be in service starting September 25, 2010.” That route could take me from Decatur to the Ponce-Highlands neighborhood. Until the service cut back 2 years ago, it ran every 18 minutes starting at 5am and not ending until 1:30 early the next morning, It made our area of this so called city seem almost urban. I took it to work every day since the beginning of the war for Oil in Iraq when I stopped using my personal car. After some initial apprehension and discomfort, it turns out I loved that bus ride. I could relax, read a book or listen to my Ipod. Better yet, I was able to meet and have a short conversation with men and women from all over the world, from a refugee from the Sudan on her way to work at a downtown hotel as a maid, from lower income maintenance workers going to work at the Druid Hills CC, students on their way to Paideia School, foreign tourists on their way to Fernbank, and an Indian banker working at Nations Bank, and many more people my coworkers driving alone from Gwinnett and Cobb never got a chance to meet. Or talk to. That was their loss. But now I worry about the end of the Route 2. I have other options, that many of the other riders do not have and I worry for them. How will they get to work?
Cutback of services on MARTA bus route 2 hurts me too, and worries me about my future options for transportation for shopping and medical needs. I, too, have met so many interesting and wonderful people on both MARTA buses and trains, and think I am lucky in the process. People who refuse to ride MARTA because of the uncertain diversity of their fellow passengers are losers in every sense of the word. I wish they had a better understanding of life and humankind, and that they would support MARTA in a way that would promote expanded services instead of force more cutbacks. The “outrage” over the new DJ store being proposed in Oakhurst is just another example of the NIMBY attitude that I have sadly observed many times in the Decatur area. It indicates both a failure to adjust to reality and devotion to a better-than-you conviction, which seems very sad to me. TJ grocery stores are just another mass-market repackaging store, folks, nothing special there. Dollar General is “plenty good enough” for Oakhurst OR Decatur! An empty store site is a definite blight on any neighborhood, so give the new store some love.
I’m fortunate that my commute requires only the rail, but I have taken that bus a couple times to the Highlands to avoid the parking hassles on the weekends. Are there a lot of riders during the week? I’m assuming the cutbacks are based on usage data, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they looked at area demographics and decided there wasn’t a need based on poverty. I’m sure there are other routes with less ridership that are not being cut.
I don’t know the basis of their decision on the route 2 bus, but maybe demographics AND ridership were both factors. As for me, it was great to be able to ride out to Avondale station, because I could connect with bus routes there to go north or south for various needs. I could also walk to YDFM from the Avondale station easily and do some special shopping there when necessary. Route 2 bus was my favorite way to go into Atlanta, next to the train, because of all the interesting places for shopping along that route, and connections to other buses going north and south. The state of Georgia should be happily supportive of MARTA — Atlanta is the hub of economics for Georgia’s future and expediting public transportation in the Atlanta region is crucial to sustainability and growth.
So, if I’m understanding Marta’s info, there is not going to be bus service on Ponce from Decatur to Moreland? That’s incredible to me, considering some of the other routes I’ve seen on much less populated streets.
I can watch the marta busses going by my office on N Decatur Rd all the time, I’ve never seen a full one. Usually I see maybe 5 passengers on each one, ALL day long. Sometimes around rush hour I see one or two that is around half full, but the rest of the day, nearly empty.
That would be the #36, also being eliminated entirely.
Brian, it has to do with the ridership on the buses, not the population of the streets they run on.
I have ridden the #2 from time to time. My general observation is that there aren’t many riders either way east of Moreland Ave, which is where they’re cutting it back to. MARTA’s cutbacks were based on ridership.
Actually the line begins at the Avondale train station before Decatur. I have used the #2 for 5 years. It is often nearly empty, but less often it is full of people when it gets to Decatur, who go beyond Highland, which is where I get off. Most of those riders probably can tale the train to Candler Park which is where the # 2 will begin starting September 25 and then ride to Ponce, to go west on Ponce to their destination. It is the folks who ride on the section I use, down West Ponce to Highland who will have no alternative. MARTA did make its decision based on rider ship. But it looks to me that their are disproportionately negatively impacting poor working people and the elderly, who are often without a car. MARTA was sold to DeKalb and Fulton County voters by is appeal to lower income residents. When it first began, Maynard Jackson insisted the fare be set at 25 cents, for the first couple of years. I am concerned that we have cut back service only because of the systems very desperate financial situation, which is caused by no state government support. The state has transportation funds to spend to benefit suburban upper and middle income, and yes White folks, who drive to work. But mainly because of racial and class fear will never support an alternative to the individual car based system, which, frankly I am not alone in saying, is killings us.
What’s sad is how much more enjoyable life could be for those “suburban upper and middle income, and yes White folks, who drive to work”, as well as everyone else if we had decent mass transit. Mass transit in cities like San Francisco, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Chicago, Boston, D.C., New York, and most of Europe is actually fun. You see interesting people of all walks of life, including the well-dressed, get a chance to read, relax, check your iPhone, whatever. There’s just a lot of people who haven’t had a chance to enjoy the good life and appreciate it. MARTA is already darn comfortable for a neglected system and think of how great it could be if it were actually supported. I would not know how incredibly handsome well-groomed, well-dressed Italian males can be if I wasn’t riding trains with them in Italy! (U.S. males take note–a little good grooming works wonders).
I just returned from San Francisco and used public transportation to/from every place I went. Amtrak, streetcars, buses, ferries, and cable cars. Lots of fun and enjoyment in seeing that great city via public transportation — no hassles, no worries, and no gaps in service locations and opportunities. What a joy to have those venues for travel! It doesn’t take a genius to figure out a new public transportation system and use it to one’s own advantage, both economic and otherwise. The people I met in transit for a week were wonderful, and I learned a lot from them in friendly conversation as we rolled along — things I would never have known if I had been struggling through the great city alone in a car.
You are correct. MARTA can be fun and certainly enlightening. By riding MARTA, I have a chance to interact with people very different from me. At my work, many coworkers say they are afraid to ride MARTA. Heck, they were afraid to come visit me when I bought my first home in Decatur way back in the late 1970’s. Both “feeling’’ but what I really have a problem with is when public policy and governmental decisions and politicians reinforce that fear, to the detriment of our society.
My wife and I have heard the same comments. Granted, Marta is not convenient for some people, but from those who it would be I have heard basically two comments: They are afraid of crime or it is “dirty.” I’ve never heard anyone say they love their cars too much to ride Marta. Never.
When I point out that statistically they are far more likely to be in a serious car accident than be the victim of a minor crime on Marta, they usually just shrug. As for the “it’s dirty” argument, I don’t get that one at all (I once asked someone if they planned on dining on the train), so I suspect that is just code for something else.
“Dirty”–that one makes no sense at all. I wear professional work clothes on MARTA daily and have never had a problem with dirt. A couple of times there’s been a seat no one could sit in because of an air-conditioner drip. But the MARTA train is cleaner than the floors of 60-80% of the kid-friendly minivans in Decatur! I’ve got to admit that the Five Points Station isn’t shiny and new looking, especially down on the tracks where I’ve seen an occasional rat running across the tracks but the most of the rest of the stations are more “outdoors” and pleasanter. Heck, NYC subways have entire unique species of rats in them and you still see well-heeled, well-dressed folks on the trains.
The number 2 was how I got from Decatur to Midtown and L5P as a teenager, underage and hoping to slip into the Point or the L5P Pub. It was how my boyfriend and I actually got to see each other. This makes me sad
Wow…I spent many a good time and heard some great music at The Point and the Pub. Great memories. Thanks!
Yeah, when I was a Tech and my girlfriend, now wife, was at Agnes Scott, I would catch the #2 and connect to the #23. The #23 disappeared in the last round (replaced by the #110), so now they’ll both be gone.
I will be moving to Decatur in a few weeks, and I’m looking to hire someone to help me unload my u-haul. Any suggestions??
I’ve never used them, but the Emory Crew Team put a flyer out last year called Rent-A-Rower. That ad is still up on their website. You could call and see if it is still good.
http://emorycrew.com/fundraising
I’ll be out of town, unfortunately. But welcome to Decatur!
Two Men and A Truck have various options. We’ve used them one occasion.
Here’s their website with the move options – Note “Unload Only” option

Thanks for the suggestions!!
Guitar teacher recommendations? Steel string, a little bluesy, country, rocky type stuff.
Hey, I bought a guitar from the Guitar Center and the clerk gave me a card, he did lessons. That was years ago, but I bet you could call them up and ask about recommendations.
Isn’t there a guitar teacher on Church?? Just past El Tesoro??
Thanks, y’all. Hopefully I’ll run across a recommendation from a student. Till then, youtube has been pretty handy.
