Emory’s New Barnes & Noble Run Bookstore Opens Today

    Decatur Metro | July 21, 2010

Following up on my slightly tardy “giant Starbucks opens at Emory” post yesterday, TODAY is the actual day that Emory will open its massive new bookstore along Oxford Road.

The Emory Report did a piece on the new building a couple weeks back – including the following video, which gives some internal shots of the space.  The article quotes campus architect Jen Fabrick saying “The building was designed to provide important functional services for the University, but also to provide an active interface between Emory’s campus and the surrounding community,”

While the bookstore will primarily serve Emory students, faculty and staff, the Emory Report says the new B&N  “will offer an increase in titles, Emory merchandise and product offerings for customers.”

Back to the old parking question. Where’s the best place to leave the auto near the bookstore?

I just came from there. I parked in the public parking garage behind the store. I was prepared to pay the parking fee, but the gate lifted so I scooted out with free parking.

I will have to say that the guest wifi was beyond suboptimal and there is absolutely no AT&T signal. So it’s a great place if you are looking to get away from it all, grab a coffee and read a book. The book store part is like a mini B&N. It was nice to see that there was a small children’s area.
