    Schwarzenegger’s Emory Commencement Address

    Decatur Metro | May 13, 2010

From the comments associated with this video on YouTube, it sounds like students were surprisingly impressed by Gov. Schwarzenegger’s speech.

“I’m working in Emory for two month period as a researcher and all I can say is that Dr. Arnold Schwarzeneger gave the strongest speach I have ever heard.”

“I was there and heard this live. if you’re on this site, you should watch the whole thing, 26 minutes well spent. He was much, much better than I expected. What a guy.”

“This speech was great – inspiring AND funny. I’m kicking myself for not going down to the quad to see it live.”

I am a member of the library staff at Emory. I started watching this online (streaming live video), but after about 5 minutes went out to the quad to watch it in person. I agree with all of the comments–this was an awesome speech! I especially loved the early joke about how he was going to give a graduation speech in Arizona, but was afraid that, with his accent, he would be deported. A very funny, inspiring commencement address…the best I’ve heard in my 10 years at Emory.

He also spoke at Brown Middle. I was hesitate about attending but afterwards I was so glad I did. Great public speaker.

He seemed to get a good response from everyone except the administrator in the pink robes who seemed thoroughly annoyed throughout the speech! :)

Are there any doubts about the Govenator’s wit and ability to engage an audience?
