Decatur’s Crossword Creator
Decatur Metro | March 5, 2010The AJC has the story of Decatur resident Ned White, who has been waiting a good two years for his “pain in the pencil” crossword puzzle to appear in the New York Times.
The according to the paper – the AJC that is – it finally appeared on January 16th, a Saturday: the day when the Times crosswords are notoriously the hardest of the week.
A great story that provides background on both Mr. White and the New York Times’ crossword!

A Saturday! Consider me impressed. I only do Thursday’s.
If you have ever tried to create a crossword, you know how very difficult it is. My congratulations to Mr. White.
I can’t even do a Sky Magazine crossword, let alone the ones that taunt me from the pages of the Times! In the words of Wayne and Garth, “we are not worthy!”
I’m only smart enough to make it half way through Tuesday.
Congratulations to Mr. White! What a super amazing feat!
And “Wordplay” is a terrific documentary.
(“Word wars,” for Scrabble lovers, is also cool.)
