    Farm Burger Is Coming

    Decatur Metro | February 22, 2010 | 2:19 pm

After conflicting rumors as to its fate AFTER some debate over a needed parking variance, Carl posted this pic on Flickr verifying that Farm Burger is indeed moving into the old Viola Voila Space on West Ponce.  There’s been a good deal of action around the space over the past 2 weeks, but they must have just put up the signs.

Farm Burger does have a website, but no menu thus far.  Just a newsletter sign-up.

We saw them painting and doing work on Saturday, but they hadn’t put the signs up in the window yet. Cautiously optimistic. A dedicated (organic? locally sourced?) burger establishment next door to a pub seems like a good move.

      Voila. Not a viola.

Friend of a friend has the menu in development and it sounds perfect for Decatur. Hope it’s a hit!

Seems a curious strategy to open a burger place next door to the purveyor of the very best burger in Decatur. (Watershed.) I will no doubt give it a try, though. Does anyone know if they will have a beer/wine and/or liquor license? Seems to be a trend lately of restaurants opening without one and then wondering why no one eats there.

I think a few other places give Watershed plenty of competition for “best burger in Decatur” and besides…I think that Watershed probably has a few other “bests” they’re more interested in protecting (ahem…fried chicken!).

Agreed. Watershed’s burger IS very good, but when I think of that establishment, that’s one of the last things to come to mind. Who makes a reservation at Watershed and gets a burger?

It depends on your recipe for fried chicken. I don’t care for Watershed’s version, myself.

Corky Deans had the best burger I’ve ever had in Decatur.

Someone passed out cards at the Georgia Organics conference this past weekend that had the Farm 255 (Athens) logo on one side and “Farm Burger – opening soon in Decatur” on the other. If the burger I had at Farm 255 the other night is any indication of what’s in store, bring it! I will be there with bells on.

Oh hells yeah. Great tip MissV!

Damn…They have poutine? I hope they port that over here.

Why weren’t there places like Farm 255 when I was in Athens? Then again, I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford them back then, anyway.

To make the transition from Athens to Decatur complete, someone needs to put in a head shop next door…

Speaking of the parking controversy, someone forgot to include bicycle parking in the arrangement. Fail.
