    Taste Now Selling Button Cakes

    Decatur Metro | July 29, 2009

    Steve at Taste writes in…

I was always a fan of Button Cakes Cupcakes and when I heard about Viola closing I had an idea. Now that idea has come true.

Taste in Decatur now has a full cupcake case. Holly, the baker, brings them in fresh every morning. The waste is donated to a homeless shelter. So far we have sold out almost everyday by 3 or 4 pm. We up upping our quotas to meet demand. These cupcakes are fantastic. There are very few baked goods in Atlanta that will call your name in the middle of the night. These will.

One Decaturite helping another. Holly is thrilled to have her case in our store and so are we. Her website lists the flavors available theoretically but anyone can call us for a daily flavor list @ 404 370 1863.

You can also purchase Button Cakes Cupcakes at Cafe Cliche on West Ponce.

Yea, Taste! A great store where I always send my family for Mother’s Day, Xmas, and birthday gifts for me!

Yea, Cafe Cliche, a great coffee, sandwich, ice cream, pastry, smoothie shop run by two great guys!

Yea, Button Cakes Cupcakes, your cupcakes please both the little kids and the cuisine snobs; please keep stocking both establishments because I hit each on different trips!

Ouch– these are REALLY good, and being just across the street at MIngei is very dangerous– this week, I have so far tried the fresh strawberry and the peanut butter cup– both killer.

Ah, the penny drops! Ann, you unwittingly cleared something up for me when you said Taste was across the street! I guess I’ve never paid any attention to the name of the kitchen store (even though I’ve been in)….

Months ago on DM I read that Taste sold great cards. I thought it a bit odd, but headed into the wine by the glass place on Ponce in search of a birthday card. I guess I was getting my Taste and Tastings mixed up?

The waitress at Taste(ings) was very polite about my odd request, and said I bet the DM posting must have been about the great wine (gift) cards. Anyway, before your comment I was about confuse everyone by suggesting wine by the glass and cupcakes seemed an odd mix.

Ah, yes, the fresh strawberry– *sigh* Delectable. I could, if left to my own devices, down 3-4 in one sitting. And that’s without any milk to wash ‘em down!!!

Have you tried Sawickis cupcakes? I like ‘em both but as a frosting addict I have to put in a plug for Sawickis.

I haven’t tried them. Do you have a favorite?

Grrrrrrl, you know I’ve had me some Sawiki’s! It’s my personal mission to sample the cupcakes at as many purveyors of same as possible (and please don’t ask me to choose which I like best between Sawiki’s & Button Cakes– it’d be like choosing a favorite child)!

How come Cubra and Nellie always seem to pop up at first mention of cupcakes?

Liar. That’s not true at all!

        Second mention. I swear!

Oh, I plead guilty! Because, after all, what other thing so small gives one so much pleasure? I love them so much, I could probably be bribed with them. Well, no. Maybe not. OK, I hope not.
