    Bistro In a Box Grand Opening – May 8th & 9th

    By now, I’m sure most folks have seen Bistro in a Box open in the Trackside strip along College Ave and wondered to themselves or a hungry spouse, “What kinda food do they have in there and how can I try it out?”  Well now owners Kevin and Dionne McGee are opening their doors to the community with an official Grand Opening on Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th!

    Along with a chance to meet and welcome the owners to the neighborhood, Bistro promises “an array of complimentary appetizers, entrees, salads, delectable menu items, and featured wines”, along with “fun raffle drawings and door prizes.”

    Jim Lehrer Coming To Decatur Library

    From the Georgia Center for the Book…

    Jim Lehrer, the respected host of PBS NewsHour, makes a special visit with his 19th novel, the new and delilghtful Oh, Johnny, a story “brimming with memorable characters” that cleverly and humorously blends baseball, World War II and romance. You won’t want to miss this this talk by Lehrer, whose many popular novels include Mack to the Rescue, Flying Crows, Kick the Can and The Phony Marine. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Seating is limited, no advance reservations or tickets, first-come, first-seated. Tuesday, May 5, 7:15 P.M., Decatur Library Auditorium.

    CSD Responds To Swine Flu Threat

    Maria Lewis sent out this note from School Health Coordinator Sally Dobbins…

    Dear CSD Families,

    Although CDC has issued a public health emergency related to swine flu, Georgia has no confirmed cases. Symptoms of swine flu are similar to seasonal flu: sore throat, body aches, fever, headache, cough and fatigue. Some people have also reported diarrhea and vomiting.  Swine flu, like seasonal flu, is spread mainly person to person through coughing or sneezing.   As with any flu or infectious disease prevention is critical.     McKoy Gets 11 Alive Playground Safety Check

    11alive followed Atlanta attorney and children’s advocate Don Keenan to Decatur’s McKoy Park where he found a bunch of “safety hazards” including “chipped paint, small fall zones around swings, inadequate padding, debris and S-hooks on swings with gaps that can catch children’s clothing.”
