Reaping The Angst
Decatur Metro | April 23, 2009Perhaps if the AJC didn’t pretend like it was the only game in town, everyone else wouldn’t jump up quite so quickly when they actually gave a blogger credit.
Oh and P.S., how do you know when your newspaper is turning into a glorfied blog?
When they post things like “Clermont Lounge For Sale!” – implying the strip club could close – and then they retract with an article about how it won’t close as a result of a sale.
Welcome to knee-jerk gossip land. Make sure to try the hat-tip.
Wow. Can you say catfight?
C’mon it’s not like this blog and the
ajc are competition for each other. If anything,
they are complimentary. And, your next item,
where did that come from?
The first Clermont piece is emblematic of the thing I dislike most about the AJC website. It will post a banner headline followed by a one paragraph story with only sketchy details.
Hack, in many ways the two are complementary. However, over the past year and a half there have been multiple occasions where the AJC has pulled stories from this resource and never once given credit or even mentioned this “great local blog” that they apparently find an invaluable resource. The most we ever got was “local blogs.”
Now I’m not one to hold grudges, but this breeds animosity. Not just with me, but with bloggers all over ATL. If we had a free and open relationship, like the one I have with the guys at Creative Loafing, you would find me more than cordial.
And while you may want to chalk up this snark to a personal grudge by an egotistical blogger, an array of other angry ATL bloggers seem to speak otherwise.
The other comment is simply a cute observation that the AJC is moving more to the blog model. This after years of poo-pooing that very format seems rather ironic to me.
