Wordsmiths "Save Our Bookstore" Fundraiser Starts Tonight

    Decatur Metro | August 15, 2008 | 3:16 pm

Going into tonight, Zach reports that they’ve raised near 60% of the money needed to keep Wordsmiths open.

The two night fund-raising event begins this evening with Jack Pendarvis and Sealions and concludes tomorrow with a special appearance by Kodac Harrison.  See the full schedule here.

Best of luck to ya guys!

No word since the second fundraiser last night but Zach wrote this after the first night…

‘As always I want to thank everyone who has stepped up to support our bookstore. We still have our work ahead of us, but thanks to your help we will not have to stave off closure to get there. We’re beginning the long, arduous turn to the north. We would have never gotten there without you.’

So it kinda sounds like they’ve made enough to keep from closing…but still not clear whether they raised 100% of the funds they needed. I’m sure we’ll hear more in the next day or so.
