Rue de Leon Closing, Birdi's Looking to Get Out
Decatur Metro | May 23, 2008Per the all-knowing Carl over at InDecatur…
Rue de Leon is closing on June 15th, while Birdi’s owner wants to get the heck out of Dodge and “move to the mountains”.
Carl also points out that RockIt Boutique opens “officially” this weekend. We saw this a couple weeks back before I went overseas, but never got around to posting it, because I had no real info or a link for it. I think its in the old record store space on the pedestrian-only portion of Sycamore. Not positive its that exact location though.
Also he notes that Saba (love the awning) and Tastings are opening this coming week.
This humble blogger has been invited to the the Tastings soft-opening party tomorrow night, so hopefully I’ll have some pics for those of you who have yet to see the amazing renovations they’ve undertaken at the old Tropical Smoothie location.
Also, Big Peach Running Co. Is opening this weekend.
And the McDonough St Market (former Little Shop of Stories space below Eddie’s Attic) is now open. In addition to all of the new non-food items, the Jake’s Ice Cream counter now offers interesting-looking cookies, cakes, and other sweets.
The frame shop currently located inside Rue de Leon is moving to (I believe) the empty storefront on Clairemont most recently occupied by Gooseberry Events.
Does anyone know who owns the building that Birdi’s is occupying?
What is going to replace Rue de Leon?

Carl is right about the frame shop inside Rue de Leon moving to another location on the square where Gooseberry Events was, on Clairemont next to Emil Baran’s music store. Rose Squared Custom Framing has leased the spot and its owner (who happens to be me, JD Isaacs ) is renovating the spot to include a gallery, custom framing shop and teaching space to teach watercolor and drawing classes. The move should be complete the first week of July.
