Celebrate the Earth in April on Decatur Square
Decatur Metro | April 8, 2008Decatur has two Earth Day events on the Square this month that might be of interest!
This coming Saturday, April 12th, join the Dogwood Alliance for their annual Earth Day festival from 12p-6p. The Southern forest activists’ blog promises great music from the likes of Blueground Undergrass and others, along with excellent beer (Brick Store is a key sponsor) and organic food.
Check out their site for more info and a slideshow from last year’s festival.
Then two weeks later, on Sunday, April 27th (1p-5p) after you’ve had time to sober up from the Dogwood, go up into your attic and prepare for Decatur’s First Really, Really Free Market hosted by Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool.
Just in time for Spring cleaning, the idea is to give away a bunch of the stuff you never use, with hopes that one of your neighbors may be able to put it to good use, as opposed to just throwing it away. But its not just limited to your old junk…they also suggest providing free services, like haircuts, etc.
I’ve kicked things off with a little free advertising!
See you there!
