Benedetti's Italian Restaurant Closed
Decatur Metro | January 27, 2008 | 10:46 amCarl reports that Benedetti’s in the Fed Ex/Kinkos Plaza at the corner of Clairmont and N. Decatur is closed.
Whether this closing preceded the recent liquor license crackdown or the old school Italian joint is just the latest victim of a Dept. of Revenue sweep through the Decatur area is yet to be determined. Can anyone help pinpoint a date?
If you like old-fashioned Italian dining, your closest option might now be Alfredo’s on Cheshire Bridge.
I’m getting a bit worried about what this rash of closings is saying about the local economy.
Ate there in December. It closed at the end of December and was supposed to turn into a “pizza delivery” restaurant. At least that’s what the restaurant staff said at the time.
Nino’s – also on Cheshire Bridge – is another old-school Italian option.
I never tried Benedetti’s and have never heard anyone talk about the food there although I live and work nearby. I suspect it may have gone out of business (or hopefully, adapted its business plan) because it wasn’t competitive with all of the good dining options right at that intersection.
Benedetti’s food was okay, but dang did they keep it dark in there. Made it really hard to see the menu.
Bambinellis in Northlake (behind the mall and in the same center with Sports Authority) is a decent alternative for low key Italian. The veggie lasagne is very good.
Jerry thanks for the tip.
I never would have gone looking for good Italian in that plaza. That whole complex is so oddly placed.
