Decatur's Non-Renewed Alcohol License List
Decatur Metro | January 24, 2008My wife came across this 2008 list of Non-Renewed Alcohol Licenses (effective thru today) on the Department of Revenue website. There’s also a search function here.
Below are Decatur establishments without a current “consumption on premise” liquor license according to the list
Not Yet Reported on Decatur Metro
- Nathalie’s Key West Fish House (giving out complementary glasses – Carl)
- Ted’s Montana Grill (claims they haven’t lost it – Carl)
- Benedetti’s (lost consumption on premise license)
- Los Loros (has 2008 license)
- Crescent Moon (lost retail license)
- Twain’s (lost BWP-brewpub? license)
- Maddy’s (lost retail license)
- Duck’s Cosmic Kitchen (lost retail license)
- Amaryn’s Thai Bowl (lost retail license)
Already reported on Decatur Metro
- The Angel – Closed
- Pasta Please – Closed
- Zocalo – Already Confirmed
- Mick’s – Closed
Can anyone confirm or deny the “new ones”?
I know I sound like a broken record, but what the heck is going on? Ted’s? Can that be believed?
No monster margaritas at Los Loros?! This requires action!
Nathalie’s is offering a complimentary beer or glass of wine with your meal (since they can’t sell it). Ted’s claims that they have never lost their license.
Thanks for doing some footwork Carl! You’re an indispensable source of information.
I would have called them up myself, but today was beyond hectic.
I also noted Amaryn’s Thai Bowl, Maddy’s, Duck’s Cosmic Kitchen and Twains on the list.
ks, I didn’t include those establishments because the “license type” was “retail” and not “consumption on premise”, which I’m pretty sure are different things.
Twains license type is “BWP” and I was unclear what that type was so I left it off the list. Plus I figured if Twains wasn’t serving alcohol, I would have heard about it by now.
My guess is the Twain’s license is somehow related to being a brewpub (BWP). I remember when they first did the change over they had a problem with the license and couldn’t sell their own beer. Maybe the council had to pass a new licensing category in order to address?
I just learned from a source who works for the Dekalb County Office of Economic Development that the Georgia Department of Revenue made a “sweep” through Decatur targeting restaurants and bars who were behind in paying their sales taxes.
My source said there would be more businesses to lose their licenses but didn’t know yet which ones.
Crescent Moon is also on that list.
It doesn’t make sense for HTIII to put all of these places out of business. A fine I can understand. Closing them hurts the fabric of the area – not to mention the tax base. Late taxes are better than no taxes.
Benedetti’s is now closed.
We just left Los Loros 30 minutes ago, after having margaritas, and asked about the liquor license. They have one for 2008 purchased in November of 2007. They showed it to us! What the heck is going on here?
