$20k Cheerleaders Spice Up DeKalb Commission Meeting
Decatur Metro | December 12, 2007Guess what Creative Loafing’s Thomas Wheatley and everyone else in attendance at last night’s DeKalb County Commission meeting saw? Cheerleaders. And not just any cheerleaders. Commissioner Elaine Boyer’s Lakeside High School Cheerleaders!
Are these the same cheerleaders that are supported by the booster club that received $20k from Sembler a few months back? Yes!
Did Boyer vote for the TAD on the Sembler project? Nope.
Just because Elaine Boyer did not vote for the TAD to benefit Sembler doesn’t mean that she won’t pay her buddies back in the future. Those cheerleading uniforms are going to cost the residents and schoolchildren in the area a lot more than $20,000. Boyer should be ashamed of herself.
An earlier post requested that I take down a picture of the Lakeside cheerleaders that went along with this post. I have compiled. I have also removed the comment itself, since it was addressed specifically to me.
I’m very sorry for any aggravation I may have caused and will certainly be more careful of the pictures I attach to stories in the future.
Mae…we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Boyer’s votes and actions regarding Sembler going forward.
Thanks for removing the photo. Decaturite, I wish you would look into the Viking Spirit Booster Club that Boyer claims to have formed as a nonprofit entity. If you check the Sec. of State’s website for the name, you’ll see that the club is not even registered. What is up with this woman forming this group and telling people that their contributions to it will be tax deductible? She also meddled in the personnel affairs at Lakeside High School, sending out an e-mail that a cheerleading coach had been negligent and was fired. Neither claim was true, yet that information went out to the community, the cheerleaders’ parents, and the cheerleaders, too. Boyer even filed an application to become a cheerleading coach at the high school! What is up with this woman? Has she lost her mind?
