Nickel Creek’s Farewell (For Now) Tour hits Atlanta tonight at the Fabulous Fox.

Over the past half-decade, the trio has made tour stops across the city, playing smaller to larger capacity venues as their regional popularity grew.  Starting out at the Variety in Little 5, and then the Tabernacle and finally the Fox, the trio impressed and entertained a growing Atlanta fan base with their virtuosity, interesting covers (who can ever forget Chris’ take on Britney Spears’ Toxic?) and jaw-dropping improv.

Tonight, with the help of legendary banjo player (and special guest) Bela Fleck, the group says a fond farewell to a league of dedicated and eclectic fans, who wish Chris, Sean and Sara would just never stop touring together and making records.  But after a while even a 28 year-old feels the effects of 100 solid tour dates a year over seven years.  So we begrudgingly understand.

On the upside, all three members will continue to write and perform independently, so watch for them back in Atlanta at places like Variety, The Loft, or maybe even Eddie’s Attic in the coming months.   That will have to suffice until Nickel Creek announces its “We’re Back and Better Than Ever Tour”.
