    Decatur Green Fest This Saturday

    Decatur Metro | May 9, 2013

Mike sends along the press release for the Green Fest this weekend, which reads in-part…

… the fifth annual Decatur Green Fest will be held Saturday, May 11 from 3-10 p.m. in downtown Decatur and will feature a live musical performance by Ed Roland and the Sweet Tea Project.

The Sweet Tea Project is led by Ed Roland, Atlanta native and front man of the platinum-selling rock band Collective Soul.

Terrapin Beer is the Presenting Sponsor of the event, which will be held in coordination with the Decatur Concerts on the Square series. All proceeds will benefit the Dogwood Alliance and the Decatur-based organization Poverty is Real.

The Decatur Green Fest draws more than 5,000 attendees to the Decatur Square each May for a free event featuring live music, dozens of vendors displaying a vast array of sustainable goods and services, local and organic food and drinks, an artists’ market, a kids zone, and more.

Decatur Green Fest – Saturday May 7th

    Decatur Metro | April 27, 2011

Here’s part of the official press release from Ryan Klee at Lenz Marketing…

The third annual Decatur Green Fest—hosted by the Dogwood Alliance—will kick off the Decatur Business Association’s Concerts on the Square series on Saturday, May 7 with a FREE, day-long festival featuring live music, green tasting of local organic produce and food, beer, a showcase of equal exchange and other fairly-traded products, green organizations and vendors, art featuring recycled materials, and a children’s activity area. The event runs from 3 – 9:30 PM.

Please PleaseRock Me—a Beatles spin-off of the Yacht Rock Revue musical act—will headline the event and perform at 7 PM on the Dave FM Stage. Nathan Beaver, an alt-country musician on Decatur’s Red Eye Gravy Records, will perform at 6:15. The live music begins at 3 PM.

John Beal, also known as “John the Baker,” is the organizer of the event. “It’s an honor to work with my fellow organizers, the City of Decatur, our generous and committed sponsors, and especially the good people dedicated to this vital cause,” he said. “They all know that they are making a difference in the world.”

    Decatur Festival News

    Decatur Metro | April 8, 2009

Don’t let the dying azaleas fool you.  Festival season is upon us.

    • The Decatur Green Fest is less than a month a way!  On Saturday May 2nd, be ready a sample an endless array of green consumer goodies up on the Square, all in the name of the environment!  Green music will be provided by an array of green musicians throughout the day.
    • Dave at InDecatur notes that Decatur Beach Party tickets are already available online for $5 each on Ticket Alternative.
    • The Decatur Minute announces that its time to start designing logos for the “I Will Volunteer For Other Festivals Just To Volunteer For This Festival” Festival!  The winner gets their logo all over everything, $300 to pregame with, two tix to the Beer Fest, and two beer-soaked t-shirts (trust me, they will be).  So get to work!  Because I’m sure that Lauren has already noticed there isn’t a “you can’t win more than once clause.”
