Decatur Green Fest Kicks Off Concerts on the Square Today
Decatur Metro | May 1, 2010 | 11:39 am
The Decatur Green Fest takes place on the Square today from 3p-9:30p, with free light-bulbs, beer, and all sorts of enviro-friendly things, kicking off the Decatur Business Association’s Concerts on the Square series. Concerts take place every Saturday night in May.
Here’s a list – with appropriate linkage – of who’s playing the Square this year…
- May 1: The Holland Dutch
- May 8: Bonaventure Quartet
- May 15: The Bitteroots
- May 22: Tom Hill and the Midnight Suns
- May 29: Laura Monk & High Cotton

Got my two free light bulbs (turned in one incandescent), registered to win a free eco-housecleaning, tasted lots of great free food from Cakes and Ale (sandwich with homemade bread and butter), Bhojanic (yummy curried cauliflower), Farm Burger (veggie greens), Iberian Pig (bacon wrapped dates and albondigas), Leon’s, The Mercantile, Stackhouse and more! Good beer, music, crafts, etc. A nice event. I’ll return next year.
I must be blind…I walked thru around 5 pm, but didn’t see any of the food samples. Will they be back for the rest of the concerts or was that just for the green fest?
The link above for The Bitteroots is incorrect. For more information, please visit http://www.thebitteroots.com or http://www.thebitteroots.com/facebook or http://www.reverbnation.com/thebitteroots
The Bitteroots will be playing May 15th at The Concerts on The Square in Decatur
“Albondigas” is my favorite Spanish word.
