CSD Back in Session!
Decatur Metro | August 1, 2013
The Dequatur (is that right?) district was hopping this morning with new buses, cops, crossing guards, and students! Schools back. from. summer. And the news media is excited!
- Channel 2 has an interview with Dr. Edwards, discussing enrollment and the first day of school.
- The AJC has some cute photos from a 1st grade class at Winnona Park Elementary.
- And we can’t forget the new CSD bus fleet!

Are the busses new or did they just paint of the Dekalb County letters?
I’ve been wondering too. They don’t look like the same buses to me as they drive by. My guess is that they are new leases, not new purchases. A new purchase would have been an enormo price tag that would have invoked discussion. Good news is that many of the same old beloved bus drivers have been hired by CSD: Hi Ms. Helen! Hi Ms. Bowen!
They are all new – 4 purchased and the remainder lease/purchase.
Saw a very sweet moment this morning on my way in, a student ran up to her crossing guard and gave her a big hug and a smile. A nice way to begin the day.
D’awww!
Patch also has a very brief but upbeat interview with Mr. Thomas, Renfroe principal.
Also, WSB-TV has a video of Oakhurst’s first day
Here’s the page – the actual video doesn’t seem to have a link of its own.
