Is that where healthcare.gov keeps its webmonkeys?
Maybe so. Think I’ll head over there. I have several websites that don’t work — need to sell’em for $600 million or so. I figure the government will be very interested.
A top-secret IKEA facility?
Thank you for coming. Now you MUST pass by ALL our merchandise — every pot, particleboard dresser, and lamp — before you can leave! Bwahahaha
And by the time you exit, you will have encountered at least half a dozen other shopper parties that include a squalling infant and/or bored, misbehaving children.
. . . and you keep muttering under your breath “lady, those aren’t pants.”
+1
I like the variation of materials used in the doors and windows: plywood, a leaning door that is really just a suggestion of security, and the metal mesh.
The sign says “For Rent” but the building says “Run Awayyyyy!”
But, it does appear to be wheelchair accessible.
Can i drop my kids off an assume this is a good, clean childcare facility for less then $10 an hour? Cool!
Former Sock Man Headquarters.
This headquarters looks like hindquarters.
Oh mighty and all knowing decaurmetro posters, forgive this building for not housing $12 cocktails or being part of living walls.
^^That needed to be said.
Ahh, surely this is a potential Trader Joes location…
Kat knows! When this place was Sockman headquarters a couple of years ago it was my favorite building in the area. The giant, happy sock cartoon made me smile everytime I went by it. And I was always a bit confused how someone could just sell socks like that. We still see the truck driving around sometimes. Thanks to this posting I did a quick search and came up with this Creative Loafing article from 2009. Pretty interesting as the guy actually had many successful stores. Hope he is doing okay.
What exactly is the point of this picture? I’ve seen many buildings like this around. Am I missing something?
Yeah, this was Sock Man World Headquarters. That guy was all over the place south of Memorial for a couple of years – bright yellow trucks with cartoon socks on ’em. And then overnight, he just disappeared. The trucks were gone, the multiple storefronts were shuttered. I’d like to know what happened to him – did he overextend the business model? Did he get cut out of the production line? Or did he just grow too big too fast?

The Sock Market crashed.
