If you are on facebook go to my page: Christine Tyler Artworks and check out my paintings. I do the paintings every year for the Decatur Tour of Homes and a few works on my page are Decatur themed. Enjoy!

Great beach read or bathroom read: Dropped Names by Frank Langella. Lots of great dish about the celebs he’s known, all of them conveniently dead so they can’t fight back. Currently reading Rob Sheffield’s sweet memoir Love Is a Mix Tape. CD I can’t take out of the player this week is And Still I Rise by the Heritage Blues Orchestra. I am amazed and bemused by what Lena Dunham has accomplished at the age of 24.
Yes, Lena Dunham is pretty amazing. I’m really loving “Girls.”
Avondale Estates’ Art-B-Que is this weekend, May 5 & 6. Art-B-Que is a free outdoor festival featuring local bands, wonderful Southern based artists, good beer, a huge selection of food vendors and fun for all! Y’all come! You can learn more here: http://artbque.com/
I’ll second this. If you’re someone who gets worn out by the safety and repetition of the longstanding arts tests, Art-B-Que is for you. Still weird. Still cheap. Last year they enticed me with 3 dollar PBRs. Try that in Inman Park.
true dat.
Agreed this is a fun time, but last year we attended on Sunday and few of the food vendors and none of the BBQ vendors were there on Sunday. Not sure why but it was rather disappointing. And, if you’re expecting to sample the wares of multiple BBQ purveyors, readjust: Burnt Fork is the only BBQ listed on the site.
We do have Burt Fork, plus Brew BBQ (you have to squint to see them on the site) as vendors for the event, as well as our own whole pig roast with the assistance from Gum Creek Farms. We are roasting it properly Friday night on site!
We are also having a pull pork competition Saturday with quite an amazing prize from Pine Street.
It is also as much about the gathering, brews and music, just as a great back yard b-b-que should be. PBR is still a big player this year, and we are also offering some beers from the Beer Growler for the sophisticated taste the Decatur area has developed.
Mark your calendars for the Decatur Arts Festival poster unveiling –this Thursday, May 3 from 5:15 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Old Courthouse. Meet the poster artist–get a free poster and enjoy food and drink courtesy of the Decatur Arts Alliance. Check our cool banner ad on DM and click for more info.
See you Thursday!
