Photo Tour of Decatur’s New Courtyard By Marriott

    Decatur Metro | February 9, 2012

Catherine’s got a great photo tour of the new Courtyard by Marriott’s interior over on the Visit Decatur, GA blog.

Looks like there are a lot of new and interesting features, including Decatur art in the hotel rooms!  Groovy.

Thanks Catherine. I had to chuckle about your final comment!

looks nice! Speaking of Decatur art, where is it sold?

I’m convinced that this looks better. The blue motif works better for me than the brown color scheme that we saw recently on DM. It looks like the renovation was about decor and lighting more than structure. The conference area was especially in need of new ambience.

The most important issue for me is whether or not the musty, moldy, damp ambience has left the rooms and corridors. That’s what was so negative in the past, the few times that I’ve stayed there (snowstorms) or visited a guest. I would think that the Courtyard would be sure to take care of that.

I have walked all over the inside and it is a huge improvment. The lobby spaces have a nice feel and there are multipul areas where one can work and sit. Overall this is a great plus to the area. In the past I could not let clients stay in downtown Decatur and this will change that

I walked through the other day. My overall impression was very good, except that the corridor from the hotel to the conference center is even colder-feeling than before, despite the windows. It seems that every surface on every side is hard and there is nothing, furniture or anything else, to break up the space.

When I was in, they pointed out a few spots in the lobby where furniture was scheduled to go once it was delivered. It wouldn’t surprise me if there might not be more coming for the hallway as well.

Blue carpet? Blue and gold pillows? Go, Bulldogs!

It looks fresh, modern, and comfortable– I really like it! Light years better than the mauve/brass theme that they had for so long…
