Cakes & Ale Starts Move August 8th; Reopens on Decatur Square August 16th

    Decatur Metro | August 3, 2011

Kristin Allin of Cakes & Ale sends along this note detailing their move this coming Saturday, August 8th and all that’s in store at their new, Sycamore/Church Street location come Saturday, August 16th.

There’s lots of great info in the letter (wood-burning oven, oyster bar, bakery items, new staff), but it’s a pic file and not copy-and-paste-able text, so I can’t easily insert a tease above the fold.

    So click on dear friends!

Can’t wait to walk to a world class bakery in the mornings. We missed Alon’s after coming to Decatur from ViHi neighborhood.

How early will the bakery be open and the coffee be served?

Ditto that, but my BMI has pretty much been a lost cause since age 12.

Can’t wait for the bakery, but bummed they chose to close during my birthday week. Cakes & Ale was my restaurant of choice to celebrate.

Happy that Billy and team can finally get on with the next phase. They have been waiting a while for this. I’ll miss the old space and the feeling of dining in a quaint, homey room. But they are certainly on to bigger and better things. Our city’s finest restaurant by a long shot.

So, are they still gonna be closed Sundays and Mondays?

Did Cakes and Ale kick Watershed’s butt right out of Decatur?
